For health reasons I eat whole food plant based no added oil or salt. The wonderful French accent girl who took my order for the vegetarian breakfast without eggs but extra vegetables conveyed to a kitchen chef who obviously takes pride in the food he prepares. Mushrooms, tomato, spinach, corn fritters full of corn, whole meal toast, and served piping hot even though they were busy on a Saturday morning. Sriracha hot sauce, cracked pepper for personal taste available in the seating area overlooking the Picton harbour. Did I mention the side jug of hot water I requested with my Americana coffee?Usually a tiny jug, not here, they served a properly sized stainless jug of hot water. I donโt usually leave great referrals but my hope is when I return they will offer all the vegans out there doing there best to unclog their arteries and help out the poor animals a breakfast option marked vegan. My warmest compliments to all the staff that worked around 9am 17 September 2022 all I saw were very happy patrons that morning and you all...
ย ย ย Read moreWhat a pleasant little accident. Our ferry was rescheduled to a much earlier departure, so we arrived in Picton at breakfast time. Due to a miscommunication at the car rental place there, we thought we had a few hours to wait until we could get our car (otherwise we would not have walked into Picton). It was the best breakfast I had during my two-week stay in New Zealand, and thatโs saying a lot because I had so many wonderful breakfasts on my trip.
The staff and, I think, owner were extremely nice, the service quick, and the food just slamming! Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed. Iโm so happy we lucked into this visit. Iโll never forget it. Oh, and the view is just as good as the foodโฆwell, almost. Iโd still take the food...
ย ย ย Read moreNothing wrong with the food in general but... Breakfast isn't all day, why is it that the staff are unable to cook an egg after midday, if you can cook a sardine surely an egg isn't that much more difficult? I think the majority of kiwis are happier with a brunch menu than heavy lunches, I didn't see many big lunches being eaten. The staff are pretty pushy at clearing dishes and putting the closed sign up at 2.30pm, outside tables being dragged inside etc. There was another group who were having their plates removed as they finished them while others were still eating. Surely in these tight times the cafe would be a little more flexible with it's menu and opening times? I really dislike cafes that shut too early. I don't blame the staff but the owners should give staff some cleanup time after...
