This is top banana top class pub grub with quality NZ service and superb prices. I went here twice it was so good I didn't bother looking for any where else. Forget your main street promenade cafe/bar restaurant that charge the earth when you can have quality this good at affordable prices. The surroundings are comfortable and relaxed...a real pleasure to be around. Music from the 80s to entertain you but nothing too loud. I liked it here and looks like the locals do too. Food was absolutely abysmal. Advertised kiwi lamb roast....supposedly fresh food. The lamb (it was mutton) was tough, smelly and inedible. The frozen beans and peas undercooked yet remarkably soggy. The carrot may have been fresh but was put in hot water for a minute rather than cooked. The rest was is not eorth the effort of typing. The beer was a welcome relief. Staff, solo woman, was efficient but not welcoming. This was a place I embarrassingly took an overseas guest to dine, having seen the lamb roast offering. ...
