Face Lab Ltd — Attraction in Upper Harbour

I felt very conflicted about writing this review. I was bought a relaxing Swedish massage as a gift on Grabone. Pros: The establishment interior was pleasant and the staff are friendly enough. They have good reviews for facials. Cons: The relaxing massage, wasn't relaxing at all. I felt like a toddler being briskly rubbed with sunscreen or a roasted lamb being lightly oiled with a mint rub, prior to roasting. No long gliding strokes at all! Did not ask me about my preferred pressure, (there was barely any and i prefer medium) and when I politely mentioned that putting pressure on my shoulder blades where the knots are would be nice, was told that I should book in next time for deep tissue. (You're not winning me over now milady, so why would I come back!?) And I know it's difficult to earn a living and taking care of children, (totally sympathize) but bringing them into your relaxing massage business, does not make it a relaxing massage business. I hate complaining but I was so dissatisfied I basically ran out the door. I have had A LOT of massage experiences in my time, and I'm sad to say that this was at the bottom end of the list. The staff were lovely and very accommodating when I had to change my booking. I had a 60 min relaxation facial for two (I took my mom). It started off with an attempt to up sell my treatment for extra dollars. I don't appreciate that when I'm trying to relax. The facial was very relaxing but the head massage left me and my mum with headaches that lasted for a week, intense finger pressure to the top of the skull (yes we did ask to lighten it) that finished with hard yanks of the hair, not my definition of relaxing. The beds were glorified ottomans with padding that my carpet underlay would put to shame. It was so bad for my mum that she couldn't stay lying down and had to sit up half way through to finish her facial (she has had massages the same length at other places and never had this problem).
