I went to the art of nails Albany on Wednesday the 10th of jan. my appointment was at 9:00am. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment started, and the place was not open and not one single staff member was in sight. I understood that they opened at 9:00am but I would have expected them to be getting ready by then. Anyway, so I wait around for fifteen minutes, and they eventually open up at 9:05am. This is disappointing because they should be open at the time they say they will be, and not have costumers waiting on their appointment. So im getting my nails done now, and she is very harsh with the nail file on all of my fingers. And on my pinky finger she is so harsh she files through my skin and I start bleeding. She continues to apologise and just stares at my nail and doesn’t do anything to stop the bleeding. Anyway fast forward and some other client walks in because her appointment is after mine. Now the lady doing my nails realised she’s gone over our time, which is about an hour and 15 minutes for acrylics, so she starts rushing on finishing up my nails when she was the one who arrived late in the first place. So I found that not very good. So I finish my nails and I’m not really happy with my service, but I have to then pay $100. Yes I know on their website it says that you have to pay $100, but my service wasn’t good so I wasn’t keen to pay that amount. I am also a student, aged 14. My sister went to a different nail place she is also a student, and she had the same stuff done as me, and only had to pay $45 dollars and got a student discount. Unbelievable. Her nails also looked better and she said the service there where she went was really good. Anyway I got finished up and my end nail were not great. My nails were not the same size and length like I asked for. they were patchy and bumpy. A few hairs were stuck under the gel, and some of the nails had different shapes. Also booking this place was a nightmare. I called them multiple times because I don’t have a card and I was going to pay in cash and they never answers the phone. I left messages that they took a week to reply to, and I did al of this during their working hours. So they were at work to answer. Anyway overall this place did not really meet my expectations, and I don’t think I will be coming...

My friend (Korean) and I (African American) made and appointment at 3:45. Unfortunately our Uber driver dropped us off at the mall when the establishment was a 15 min walk from the mall. The receptionist called us at 3:49 exactly when we arrived at the mall, we told her we just arrived and would be there soon ( not knowing that we were in the wrong place). Soon we realized we were in the wrong place we called to say we were lost and l asked where they were in the mall, the receptionist said they were not in the mall and give us non-descriptive directions, this is when I realized we were gonna be more then 10 mins late and told her we were far she reassured us to still come. After a 15 min walk we arrived at 4:10, 25 mins late. When we got there they were quick to accommodate my (Korean) friend with her mani and pedi, but when they came to me she showed me the couches assuming I wasn't getting anything done when I said I had an appointment for the same time they were quick to say I was too late and they don't have anytime for me, unless they did a rush job with no spa experience. They did not ask if I wanted to reschedule, I had to personally ask if there were any other appointments. Im very disappointed in the customer service I received from this nail salon, we called to say we were late and they still told us to come. Then when we both show up 25 min late, they let my Korean friend get both her hands and feet done and Offer me a rushed paint job. There is a clear bias. Im disappointed and upset of the way in which they treated me in a dismissive way that was highly...
Read moreThe experience itself was painful, and I recall my friend stating "Nails shouldn't be painful" yet I was in pain with how rough the lady was with my nails. A week later, I was shopping for sanitary items and my entire fingernail which I had SNS and my actual nail lifted off in the middle of the store which was extremely painful. I had to go to the doctors in which they told me that they've never had to deal with something like this beforehand and that I had to wait out for 6 months until the nail starts to grow back, they were not able to remove the full nail as this would complicate things in the future. I emailed The Art of Nails and they did not apologise, and they refused to remove the SNS for free as I have become traumatised that this will occur again. I am very disappointed with the service and the lady was extremely rude and not understanding whatsoever blaming it on me, saying its my fault the nail came off when the lady doing my nails was hurting me? All I wanted was an apology and for them to be kind enough to take them off with no charge as this is the least they could do for causing me pain and hardship for the next 6 months. Not happy with this whatsoever and very upset about this. I have had better experiences with other nail salons and although this hasn't happened before, I know with all my heart that they would treat me with more kindness and respect then The Art of Nails did. I do not recommend. Just because a place has a 'good' image to it, does not necessarily mean they will show you kindness and respect when something like...
