Normally a great park to spend time in, however, two huge issues are as follows. In summer there are many Karaka trees planted by the council that shed berries that are toxic and can kill dogs and small children. These need to be removed. Secondly in Winter the park is a quaggy mire due to overuse by rugby teams that take it over. They come from wide and far and completely dominate the fields every single weekend, ruining it for the locals, who I might add pay very high rates towards the upkeep of the park. Read moreThis is a wonderful dog park with sports grounds adjoining and an excellent appointed playground for children. This, all set next to the water, close to shops and surrounding cafes and amenities. I give this park a 3/5 however as the dog-park part is riddled with Karaka Trees. Of which, Karaka berries are HIGHLY toxic to dogs who ingest them. Some dogs actually perish from eating these.
I'd like to see the council get rid of the Karaka trees as well as the privet and kapok trees which are both exotic and extremely bad for anyone who suffers...
Read moreChildren's playe ground need extra safety of atleast 20ft high ( may be a big net to cover the area so cricket bowl dont land in park. In cricket season, bowl flies down to children park when someone hits boutry or six. It is dangerous for very young kids.
