If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I rarely make low reviews of sites because I know that small businesses need a break at the moment but these guys have absolutely no interest in providing customer service. I found these guys on the internet and decided to go buy some ground coffee off them and check them out in person. Their website said that they closed at 4pm. I phoned them before I left home to make sure that they had the grind that I want and spoke with a staff member. I told that person that I was coming over now to pick up the coffee. That was at 2.30pm. The staff member said nothing about closing early. I got there at 3:12pm after fighting through the Ponsonby schools pickup traffic jam. I had some difficulty getting the door open and when I did get it open I was confronted by a staff member who said that they were closed! I told them that their website said that they closed at 4. They said that they are closing at 3pm during the red light status. I then explained that I had phoned before leaving and that I had just driven halfway across Auckland to get to them. The staff member didn't care, she repeated that they were closed and shut the door in my face. I said through the crack in the door that I would never buy anything from this company in the future. I will not deal with companies who don't care enough to keep their website up to date, who don't care enough about customers on the phone to warn them that they would be closing soon and who don't care about customers in face to face encounters. I will not ever use this company or...
Read moreThis place has a great idea. However I was disappointed with the dish I choose. In fact a felt mislead with it. I made the mistake of ordering the Hawera quinoa falafel w fermented hummus chopped salad, furikake & fresh herbs.
The dish is described in the lunch menu for $22.5
It came out on a round plate and was set on exactly one half of the plate presented as a small handful of greens with 5 small falafel over cooked.
The dish flavors where nice. However the dish for lunch would have been perfect as a very small side. Or as a very small person's meal. No value and poorly advised from the person taking my order.
I am sure they probably had some nicer things on the menu but I am reluctant to go back.
The person I was having lunch with ordered the Omelette - creamed asparagus, smoked feta & green onion w preserved lemon yoghurt & fried shallots for $ 19.50
This dish was very nicely presented and I would rate it as a 4 star dish. It appeared to have spinich as a filler which was not described on the menu. However, was good all the same.
My advice from experience would be if you are over 50kg in body mass to order sides and or something that might have some substance.
Usually quinoa and falafel have substance. I can assure you not with this disappointment of a dish.
If you want a coffee they do know how to make a 5...
Read moreOverall really good experience on coffee, food and service. They use their own coffee here, roasted in house, and the standard is quite damn high, you can't go wrong with either a cold brew on tap or a standard espresso based coffee. The bustling kitchen also puts out some very decent tasting food that you get to see them compile right in front of your eyes, it's kind of exciting when you see your order get put together bit by bit and then arrive right in front of you, so I'd recommend getting a bar seat here, a much better experience if you're going as a couple or a small group. Service as you'd expect, is also on point, and I don't know how the girls did it, they were attentive, on cue and always friendly, I mean this place was PACKED, must have been over 100 people here during peak lunch times but everything just kept coming - a bit slow but can totally understand given the amount of orders piling up in the kitchen. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a decent meal with coffee, at $58.50 for two of mains and two coffees, it's really not bad, the portions are huge so you should definitely get a good meal out of it. If you drive, I'd park on Richmond and walk in, parking inside is very limited and you can spend ages circling for a park and...
