The fact this salon has any positive reviews is baffling... I went for a hair colour correction, as it was a major I thought I would invest in a salon I’d only heard good things about. What a mistake I made! I was going from quite dark back to (or as close to) my natural as possible. I left the salon with a colour that I could accept, given the fact I’d spent 6-7 hours in there I just wanted to leave. As soon as I saw the final product I wanted to cry; I knew I’d have to go back to my normal salon and get it fixed. I genuinely believe I would have done a better job at home by myself than they did at getting my hair back to the pictures I showed. One shower and the tint they’d put through my hair almost entirely washed out, they also put bleach on some parts of my hair more than once which was not necessary so the health of my afterward was absolutely horrible. It was the most over priced salon I have EVER been to and I feel I got not one cents’ worth of the $620 I spent. I went to my normal salon two days after and my hairdresser was absolutely shocked at the state my hair was in. I had to get a lot cut out of it to try and help some of the damage they’d caused & completely redo the tint and now I am doing all I can to get my hair back to health. This is the most overpriced, overrated salon in the entirety of Auckland and I will be warning everyone who ever asked for a hairdresser recommendation to NOT book here and spread the word.

I absolutely dread going to get my hair cut because I rarely walk out happy with the end result. For a few years now I have seen people on social media recommending Commune and so I finally booked an appointment with Leigh Keepa.

All the staff were so lovely – from the woman who welcomed me when I walked in and offered me a complimentary drink, to the woman who washed my hair and got me settled in before my cut. Although Leigh was already attending to a client, he took a few minutes to greet me, consult with me and offer advice on how I could restore some health to my hair (which was a concern of mine).

Despite my appointment being the latest in the day (7.00pm), not once did I feel like I was being rushed out. The conversation was genuine and Leigh treated my head like it was a precious jewel! The main goal was to achieve a style that would look great with minimal effort and that is exactly what I have now. It's so nice to have a hair stylist who I can trust will do an an amazing job! I couldn't recommend this place more and can confidently say I will not be going anywhere but here from now on.

I have thick curly hair with 3a to 4a type curls. Needles to say it's difficult for me to get a decent haircut and I dread getting them.

Did my due diligence, looked up curly hair specialists and Leigh's name and salon popped up. It had great reviews, a nice presentation so I made an appointment.

Leigh and staff were all very nice and accommodating, but the haircut itself looked choppy. The curls were not defined and my hair looked unruly even after styling. Ended up not going for the complementary follow up appointment as I was worried it would be more of the same...
