Review of Tai Ping Supermarket – New Lynn, Auckland
Tai Ping New Lynn is a well-stocked Asian supermarket offering a wide variety of fresh produce, pantry staples, and specialty items that cater to Chinese, Thai, Japanese, and other Asian cuisines. Located in the heart of New Lynn, it is a convenient spot for those looking to find authentic ingredients at reasonable prices.
One of the standout features of this store is its selection of fresh vegetables, herbs, and fruits, including hard-to-find Asian greens and exotic produce. The seafood and meat sections offer a decent range, though freshness can vary depending on the day. The frozen section is impressive, featuring dumplings, seafood, and ready-to-cook meals that make meal preparation easier.
The shelves are packed with an extensive range of sauces, noodles, snacks, and beverages from different Asian countries, making it a go-to destination for home cooks and food enthusiasts. Their selection of rice, soy products, and cooking essentials is particularly noteworthy.
Service can be hit or miss, with staff sometimes appearing busy, but they are generally helpful when approached. The store layout is functional, though it can feel a bit cramped during peak hours. Parking is available but may be limited at busy times.
Overall, Tai Ping New Lynn is a great place to shop for Asian groceries at competitive prices. While it may not have the premium feel of some specialty stores, its diverse selection and affordability make it a reliable choice for both everyday essentials and specialty...

There are also a few smaller stalls in the same building by the checkout that sell various foods, drinks, health products and there is a currency exchange place.
They did have a loyalty programme when I was there, so check that out if you go often.
By the front entrance there are lots of Asian newspapers you can pick up. Im pretty sure I've seen Korean and Indian newspapers at least. There are also brochures and a notice board.
And finally, service is...

They have a meat area lots frozen food Also they have a cooked take away where you can order and pay at the front counter. I always find something new to try and buy and This Asian food store in New Lynn offers a broad selection of ingredients. It boasts an extensive array of fresh meat, vegetables, and fish, although it's worth noting that the prices may be slightly higher compared to Pak'nSave or occasionally New World. A highlight is the in-store stall that sells cooked duck, chicken, and pork – a great feature. However, the store could benefit from a significant renovation, particularly with English labels and information for the products. There's ample parking available, which is convenient...
