The reason to go here is because it is home of one of only a couple “Flor de Cana” boutiques in the country, so the menu includes all the rare and special edition rums from 10 years through 21 years and the 130th anniversary rum. Our waiter Alberto was very knowledgeable about the rums and guided us in ordering. We are big FdC fans love learning more and trying new bottles, so we had a fabulous time. The bar is beautiful yet not fancy - gorgeous murals of Mayan gods throughout, bamboo and wood. The food was perfectly fine, but nothing special. In my opinion this place would get 5 stars if they made the food menu match how exceptional the rum menu and decor are. The food menu is massive and has a huge variety, in a way that immediately lets you know they are not particularly great at any one type of food. They should get a chef who is inspired by the rum and Mayan theme of the decor to make a local and unique menu. And more unique FdC cocktails would also put it at a higher level, rather than just the same “flor ginger” etc sold at every upscale bar in the country. With an improvement in food and cocktails this would be my favorite place...
Read moreI was recommended to eat a Club Sandwich. I dislike mostly all restaurants in SJDS because of many personal reasons and criteria. I asked for Beef instead, which is on the menu with potato fried chips (but I never eat fried, and low in carbs) so I requested bacon instead inside the Beef Sandwich with no fries. Chef work is less and no mess. Chef was brilliant in the concept and the layers of flavours: Avocado Cheese Beef that taste like real meat, medium rare, perfect then for a sandwich. Sourdough bread perfectly baked. Awesome big, visually beautiful. Cutlery with proper fork and knife to cut smoothly the roasted bread and the meat as well. I asked for mustard, and high quality as well. Why just water to drink? I wanted to enjoy a simple concept. A Beef Sandwich. 5/5 Quality. $15 which is more than fair for the quality of the ingredients, presentation, size, flavours, and quality of ingredients. On top of that, excellent attention and a correct illumination for full joy. Thank you to...
Read moreWorst place for breakfast. Gallo pinto is crispy like you’re chewing on rocks. Probably they keep it in the freezer and than fry it too long. Disgusting. So we asked for the burrito, vegetarian, they confirmed they could make it without meat, but finally we got it full with meat. Taste was also without flavor. The waiter's colleague who took the order asked him if we had ordered vegetarian, and he told her that we had not. I happened to hear that, seems he didn't want to admit his mistake. We also stayed in their hotel (which is perfect, nice, clean and comfortable). The room was including breakfast they said. But we were only allowed to choose the cheapest options of the breakfast menu. What is this for nonsens?
Finally we went to Indio del sur coffee shop where we got a...
