The place looks pretty and has a nice vibe so if you are going for a coffee it's fine; however, I absolutely do not recommend eating there. I ordered a hummus sandwich with chips. The chips were super soft and dripping oil so not sure if they were old are reheated or just really badly made. The sandwich... It was really not good. It looked good when I got it, very big and appealing looking but everything about it was wrong. The bread was this massing and dry baguette, tomato and cucumber were in such big slices that it looked like it was cut by a two-year-old. Beetroot and carrot were in the shape of weird long spaghetti strings. The sandwich was impossible to eat. I had to use my cutlery to chop every bit of it and eat one ingredient at a time. I think they are looking for a rustic vibe but have no idea what they do with their food. Also added 10% of 'voluntary tip' which was not voluntary at all. We weren't particularly happy with our experience and we highlighted it but yet they just brought change and we were charged an additional 10%. It...
Read moreThe natural and funky rustic courtyard filled with fun lighting, potted plants, reused and repurposed decor. The service of the busboy Ricardo was refreshing. He was polite, bilingual, and curious about his client. The service of the host and manager seemed a bit unexpected. We were neglected for a few minutes, when we were the only clients. And never returned to ask us how the meal was. Again, it was a quiet night. The eggplant lasagna was of a substantial size, and accompanied with salad and bread slices with bread appetizer, I would say it is quite an economical meal for only 150 cords. Quiet filling. The taste was not rich, and the vegetables were blanched, which is not my style for my Italian tradition. Update: Hey, the cooks have acknowledged this discrepency and expect to find a solution! Also, was here Christmas day to enjoy the co-owner Sophie who worked hard to provide a Christmasy special offer of "Christmas coffee, cookies and pumpkin cake. Now: there are books to enjoy...
Read moreCan't recommend this place enough. I had a vegetarian eggplant lasagna (I usually eat meat) and it was by far one of the best lasagnas I've ever had! My boyfriend went for a chicken wok fried noodle dish and it was absolutely delicious. The restaurant has a great setting, cosy atmosphere, lovely staff. One of the best places in San Juan del Sur (if not Nicaragua!) If you are tired of rice and beans and chicken and want something more flavoursome, come here! Just to add, service times are very slow in Nicaragua, expect to wait for half an hour sometimes to an hour for your meal, however this places gives you drinks and complementary bread. We've been to other places we're you are literally bitting your fingers off after waiting for such long time with no food or...
