I went for “Fjord Cruise & Hike to Iconic KossdalssvinganeI" tour and had the best day of my Scandinavian trip this year!
The day before the tour, I was informed that the tour had to be cancelled with a full-refund due to insufficient people signing up. However, I just had to do the hike because of a deeply personal reason and it was my last day in Bergen. I pleaded to them my case, and the Rodne team was so gracious, they allowed me to go ahead with the hike tour.
On the island, I was warmly welcomed by Lars and Arno from The Green Factory - Arno then brought me to hike KossdalssvinganeI. I love how serene the whole hike was, it was so calm with only the sound of the raindrops and the bird chirping accompanying our conversations. The air was also so crisp and fresh. By the time we reached the hairpin bends, the clouds opened up and the sun was out, giving us chances of fantastic photo-taking sessions. I also really enjoyed the conversations with Arno - not just about the island, but also hobbies & current affairs.
Upon returning to the base, Eirine and Lars joint us for lunch. It turned out Lars and Arno had gone fishing out in the fjords earlier in the day, Lars' wife then cooked the fish and Eirene prepared the lunch setup. All these are just thoroughly lovely & heart-warming! I also learnt that Lars started The Green Factory upon retirement for the community, including selling some locally-made arts, which is a lovely passion project.
With regards to the cruise, I just want to add that all the staff on board the cruise were so friendly and jovial - it made the cruise even more memorable.
Finally, a major thanks to Tor from the Rodne team for being contactable after work hours and so patient & efficient in resolving my case.
My heart was so full at the end of the day, and I just have to recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience the true...
Read moreUnless it is foggy, you will see dramatic scenery and beautiful waterfalls. Try to go in good weather, as you will need to be on the sundeck to see anything. The tour goes up to Mo, which, as a round trip, is about 60 miles. At Mo, you will get close to a large waterfall. There is limited shelter outside. There is also a cafe on board serving cakes and warm drinks. There is occasional commentary on board, but more would be better, including information on the local areas, local wildlife, interesting facts about the region and the fjords, etc. Take a coat because it can be cold and windy. They use what I would describe as a ferry, with seats in rows of 14. You won't see much unless you're at a window or go outside. A smaller boat would give a better experience. An alternative would be reserved seating because people leave their luggage on the seats and then wander off, meaning it can be hard to find a seat. Paying a premium for a window seat would also...

Although the boat itself was classy, comfortable and warm, and the tour was supposed to be spectacular, the lack of organization within the tour spoiled it. There was a group with many children- at least six (apparently more) children- screaming, running, playing hide-and- seek throughout the deck all the time. the adults in the family, which we’re also 5-6 people were too loud as well, not any better than the children. We kept hoping that some of the organizers here would interfere and gently instruct them to keep their voices down and their children from running down the aisles, but that never happened. The organizers were totally detached, didn’t even walk around to check on the clients. besides, the Wi-Fi was not available as promised. Our only fjord...
