Initial post - June 2024: I stayed close by at one of the resorts, and came here multiple times for lunch and dinner. I was looking for Filipino food which they met my needs and expectations. I ordered the Sizzling Port Sisig and Pork Sinigang as my main dishes, which are meant for at least 2 normal people. They both came with a cup of rice. The dishes were delicious and tasted like home-cooking. I also ordered frappes as desserts, which were a nice way to end the meals. They weren't too sweet. The service was quick to take my order, and attend as I called for them. The food didn't take long to come out, and it was hot/sizzling. I would definitely come back if I'm ever visiting and staying in the area again.
Revisit August 2024: Came back again. I was still able to get a table upon walking in. I ordered Seafood Kare Kare this time. It had mussels, shrimp, squid and pork for it's meats. It also had eggplant, green beans, banana blossoms, and leafy green. It cones with bagoong on the side to adjust the taste of the kare kare as you like. The serving size, like most of the dishes, is meant for at least 2 normal people. I also ordered a calamansi pineapple shake, which as delicious and not overly sweet. The service is friendly and attentive as before. I would continue...
Read moreAte at GLOBY: ordered meat and got almost nothing but fat and bones. Ones I'd stopped eating leaving more than half, I saw that there was hair on the meat/fat. I confronted the staff and the response was "well that's from the pigs eyebrows" and the staff said that as if that was nothing... Later the staff came and said I would get a discount of 50 pesos since I had eaten half of the dish. Was also told that this is a philippino dish and therefore it shouldn't come as a surprise.... I've been to the Philippines for 2 weeks upon my arrival at this restaurant and trust me, I've chewed through lots of bones and fat but never have I ever eaten anything as disgusting like this and never have my service been as bad .. what happened to "the customer is always...
Read moreRead moreThis place proves the truism: if a resto has too many choices (e.g., 12) or too many cuisines (this place serves Filipino, French, Italian, Thai, Mexican, American and more!!!!), then you should move on. Pad Thai was just edible but was more like a kare-kare. The kare-kare was the worst I've had in the country (sauce was extremely thin, tasteless, veggies uncooked, absolutely horrid!!). The only restaurant I can recommend in Lio Beach is Manille Cafe (virtually everything they serve is excellent!). If you know very little about Asian cuisine and are only familiar with bland, unimaginative food, then this is the...
