A space dedicated to some important people and events in Vigan and Filipino history. 1. Father Burgos - his house is here so you get a glimpse of his life. It also commemorates his execution and honors what he and 2 others were executed for, "gomburza." The house is nice, in a classic style appropo for Vigan. 2. President Quirino - The 6th president of the Philippines. You also get a peak into his life and lifestyle. He has quite the taste in clothes and collection of fine things from around the world. He has a thing for wing tips, hats, canes, and nice barong Tagalog ☺️🙏🏽 3. Basi and the Basi revolt - Ilokano history of a revolt towards the Spanish by Ilokanos. There are 14 paintings depicting this that you'll want to see. Lastly, Basi, the Ilokano alcohol, and other artifacts of Ilokano culture. It's free, it's beautiful, it's educational, a great place to learn in Vigan.

one of the highlights of my vigan trip! you should not miss this when in vigan! i really loved my time walking around here. you can easily spend an hour touring around and not notice it has been that long. you have like 3 different buildings you can visit. each with various different pieces with very informative descriptions. i loved how the arts and historic things were preserved here. you can really feel like you have gone back in time just by wandering around. all buildings are air-conditioned (except for the provincial jail) so you would not feel very hot inside the museums. the people manning the place are very friendly and accommodating and would even offer to take pictures even if not asked 😅 overall, rlly loved the place! gave me goosebumps the moment i stepped foot inside. would rlly recommend to people visiting vigan 🫶✨

Always in awe of seeing the locality from a curator's eyes. NM Ilocos Regional Museum is no exception. They gave a glimpse on the art of Inabel–the local weaving, showcased Padre Burgos and his family from Ilocos Sur, exhibited the local city jail from the past, and told the story of the Basi Revolution. There's also a part about Elpidio Quirino, one of the Philippine president that hailed from the area. The staff, even the guards, can be tour guides! They're very knowledgeable about the topic. Huge kudos! I hope that in the future, more tour guides will be available, so that everyone can get the local story telling with an expert. More power to NM Ilocos Regional Museum!

If you are interested in the Hispanic history of the Philippines, this is one of the places you can visit. Because it is under the care of the national museum of the Philippines, there is no entrance fee that needs to be paid. Two of the famous people in the history of the Philippines are regarded here. Sir Padre Burgos one of the 3 matryrs priest and the 6th president of the Philippines Elpidio Quirino. Their memorabilia can be seen here as well as the exhibit on Basi. The Ilocos Regional Museum Complex is located on Burgos Street, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, open from 9:30 am to 5 pm, Tuesday to Sunday, with a cut-off time of 4:30 p.m.

The guides were very knowledgeable. especially Leo, who decided to give us a personal tour. Please visit when you can. Today's visit to the Basi Revolution wing really hit home and showed the atrocities of the Spanish to our ancestors. You start off at Padre Burgos' home, then finish it with a visit to Quirino's birth home, which incidentally is also the city jail where his father served as a warden at the time of his birth.
