Extremely important memorial museum on victims and mass executions of Polish prisoners of war committed by NKVD in the 40s. The museum has an impactful structure that aims to take us into the journey experienced by those that lost their lives in the Katyn forests and other such crimes committed in the USSR. Through the progressive movement from one room to the other we learn about the deportations, the decision to eliminate the Polish leadership class and the decades of struggles to bring those crimes to light. Very moving the visit of the ground floor of the museum, where thousands of personal items retrieved from the victims are exposed. I strongly recommend this museum. The entrance is free and the audio guide is 15 PLN - I...

The museum offers a comprehensive and emotionally stirring experience for visitors, providing historical context through informative exhibits, artifacts, photographs, and multimedia presentations. The layout of the museum is thoughtfully designed to guide visitors through the sequence of events leading up to the massacre, the tragic aftermath, and the enduring legacy of remembrance.

One of the museum's most compelling features is its dedication to preserving the memory of the victims as individuals, rather than mere statistics. Through personal stories, letters, and belongings, visitors gain a profound understanding of the human toll of this atrocity.

Most of the information is in Polish only, it would be better to add English...

Poignant experience - the exhibition includes a beautiful display of thousands of personal items dug out of the mass graves in Katyn and the other places where the Russians killed some 21,000 Poles - military, political, scientist - the intelligentsia of Poland in 1940, by order of Stalin. Making 21,000 murders personal is impossible but each of the thousands of personal items is displayed and lit in its own little clay box, forcing you to consider what it is, where it came from, and what is says of its owner. Unfortunately, English translations are only...

An important museum focused on the murders of Polish officers and intelligentsia, committed by the Soviets in 1940 - and covered up by them until 1990s. Not even the Western powers have publically acknowledged this atrocity until after the 2nd WW was over. Make sure to rent (15 zlotys) the audio guide, to take full advantage of the rich collection of artifacts and documents. Initial content, setting the context for the murders, is somewhat duplicative with other museums, but the rest of their collection is more than worth the visit.
