A very nice medieval palace that is located in the north of Portugal near the city of Braga and the Porto . A friend suggest me to go to this town and walk it and it was a very good propose if the weather is good. If you go to Porto you must go to see this palace and the castle near it. The day I went it has got an exhibition of Leonardo da Vinci, and some of his innovative things he draw inside the palace. It was amazing because it was like you lived in this period, walk in the palace, see their weapons and their furniture, and of course learn about da Vinci. I went in autumn but it had got a beautiful sunny day so we made a walk in the park which connects the palace with the castle and then a little one to the town center. It is like you live in another period, with clean air, without the noises of a city and the cars. Near the nature with very beautiful houses and roads. I thing it is something that you can live it not many times in your life and a place which keeps the good things of the past inside their modern life. This is something that it is not easy to be seen in my country, Greece

There is no doubt that this building and the surrounding grounds are magnificent. We just did a quick stop for about two hours in this town, and were blown away by the architecture here. There are many, many photos online of this wonderful building, and I am gonna post a few myself. But, none of the photos can do this place justice. You just have to come here and see it. The tapestries alone are worth the price of admission. Speaking of admission, we paid €5.00 for my wife and €2.50 for me, with my senior discount. Quick note: all the parking lots near this edifice fill up rather early., so we parked on the street. As we were paying the fee and buying our receipt to put in the window, two police officers came walking down the street ticketing vehicles. They were kind enough to chat with us for several minutes, and gave us tips on what to see and what not to see. They also said they would keep an eye on our rental car. Very nice police officers. Please do stop here. It is worth the effort.

We visited the Palace Duques de Bragança on a short stop off to stretch our legs on our drive from Porto to the Douro Valley. We paired this with a short walk through town ending at the Garden of Largo Republic of Brazil. We bought tickets on site, upon our arrival. The architecture of the palace is impressive. The wooden ceiling is awe inspiring, it made us feel like we were inside the bones of an old wooden ship. Every item is well preserved! The chapel is breathtaking, the highlight of our tour. We were fortunate enough to visit right as the sun cleared the clouds and shown brilliantly through the stained glass. Well worth a short stop over on our way to the Douro Valley, we enjoyed our time at the Palace Duques de Bragança.

A bit confusing on how to redeem digital tickets purchased online because there are no signs saying where you do. For this who have purchased a digital ticket, what it do is walk through the bilhetes area(which had a lot of people standing in line waiting to buy tickets, that you need to get around to get through the room), and then enter into the palace. Once your in the palace courtyard you go up the stairs and a person at the top will then scan your digital tickets. The palace is very lovely and we highly recommend it as a destination, especially for people who enjoy historical structures. When we were here, there was a few areas that were closed off due to renovations, but the palace was still worth seeing.

Palace Duques de Bragança is located in the historical center of Guimarães, in the north-western part of Portugal. It is a medieval estate and former residence, and also a museum inside of the site. It is open all day and you must buy a ticket to enter the place. It is worth spending 5 euros per person to enter here. It is okay to buy the ticket upon arrival with 10 minutes of queue. Pros 1. Entrance accessible for wheelchairs. 2. Free parking nearby the site. 3. Free restroom inside the building. 4. Great place to learn about the medieval residence with period interiors. 5. You will see many beautiful tapestries and porcelains.

A well kept museum with a collection of weaponry and personal belongings of the Duke, though they're not very extensive. The route is very clear and both the building and the collection are well preserved. The informational sheets are sadly not very informative and I wasn't aware of any guided visit option. So the experience is a bit lacking in my opinion. Regardless, I'd like to give a five star for how well the staff have been maintaining this place. If you want to know more about the history of Guimarães, I recommend visiting Museu Casa da Mémoria de Guimarães for more detailed and interactive information.
