I recently dined at an Indian restaurant in Ponta Delgada, and it was an outstanding experience. The moment you walk in, the warm and inviting atmosphere sets the stage for a memorable meal. The menu offers a wide range of authentic Indian dishes, from flavorful curries to perfectly spiced biryanis.
I started with the samosas, which were crispy on the outside and filled with a deliciously spiced potato mixture. For the main course, I chose the Chicken Tikka Masala, which had a rich and creamy tomato-based sauce with just the right amount of spice. The chicken was tender and cooked to perfection. I also tried the garlic naan, which was soft, fluffy, and packed with flavor—perfect for soaking up the curry.
What truly stood out was the attention to detail in the preparation and presentation of each dish. The spices were well-balanced, showcasing the complexity of Indian cuisine without overwhelming the palate. The service was exceptional, with the staff being both attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.
In a city known for its seafood, this Indian restaurant offers a refreshing and flavorful alternative. Whether you're a fan of Indian food or trying it for the first time, this place is a must-visit in Ponta Delgada. Highly recommended!
PS: Small world, the owner of this establishment being from the same town/village of my father who is also from India was a genuine surprise. So when i say this was...
Read moreWonderful experience. This was our second visit, and the food is amazing. We had the aloo palak, with the cumin and cilantro basmati. The potatoes tasted as if they had been roasted prior to being joined to the spinach sauce, as they had just the right bite with a rich, crumbly interior, not at all chewy or overly wet like if they can get if left to soak too l9ng in the sauce and reheated from a large pot. I asked for spicy, which was perfect for adding a bit of raiata. We also enjoyed the fish curry, which again tasted to have been cooked to order. The cheese garlic naan was absolute heaven, and may become my quick lunch to grab when doing errands in Ponta. Despite not having a reservation, the staff made us feel welcomed and did not rush us through our meal. We arrive a few minutes before dinner began at 6, and the restaurant quickly filled with many folks who are obviously regulars. Other friends of ours who also own a restaurant on the island stopped by and "congratulated" us on finding the other best restaurant and told us what we already has ample experience of--the proprietors have a passion for excellent food and courteous...
Read moreThe food definitely does not have any taste of any Indian cuisine. I ordered biryani and kadai chicken which had only turmeric and salt as spice so while yes it can be preferred for some people but it no where represents an Indian cuisine (I am an Indian so definitely can validate). Was disappointed at the quality of food. The samosa was the only good thing which I can say tastes authentic. Adding a couple of additional points after the restaurant's response - I am not an expert but have lived my whole life in India to clearly know how India food tastes like (would advise others to google the recipe of Amritsari biryani and see where we add vegetables in that like cauliflower and capsicum) and maybe the restaurant should probably learn to take constructive feedback than trying snapping on the reviews. And yes, I was given a complimentary snack and yes I did not mention about it in my original review as it was a good gesture but the taste was equally bad and I felt it should not be called out just being mindful of the intent. Lastly, we were very hungry and we PAID for the food so we ate it. Not sure if you expected us to...
