I’ll begin with the positives. The staff was very nice, very helpful, multi-lingual with some great local tips. The decor is modern and attractive. There is ample parking and a nice balcony to sit outside if the weather is nice. The hotel is located at a quieter portion of the lake (which may be what you prefer) but it is a long walk to most restaurants, ATM’s, and any night life. Complaints: The rooms are very small. You will hear the other guests in other rooms. You will hear it any time someone enters the hotel. We were not directly by reception but it seemed as if the people were right outside our room. There were children above us running around late at night, stomping on the floor above us. Normally in a hotel - you’d complain to the front desk which is not staffed at night. There is a telephone number if you have a problem - which we tried several times but no one answered. Finally we went upstairs and knocked on the door of the noisy neighbor. Although they were understanding, the noise did NOT stop and we had a miserable, sleepless night. This is also a safety issue. The keys are electronic. Had our key stopped functioning (which has happened several times in my travels) you should plan to sleep outside. If there is a fire - or any emergency - good luck.
Next complaint - only instant coffee in a common room. None in a guest room. They will sell you a breakfast for 17-25€ but coffee isn’t included.
Next complaint: In addition to being surprisingly more expensive for a hotel with no view of the lake they had lots of extra add-on charges. We chose the hotel because it said our pets were welcome but that tacked on almost 20% to our bill. Once that was added on, the hotel became more expensive than the four-star luxury places directly viewing Lake Bled.
LAST complaint: you need to walk 5-10 minutes on a very narrow road to reach Lake Bled. The drivers here are totally disrespectful of pedestrians. It is so narrow I needed to jump into a muddy embankment with my pet to prevent my untimely death. I was also in a marked crosswalk, crossing a road and drivers swerved around me almost killing us. Walking to the lake includes a bit of danger.
My complaints should in no way reflect upon the helpful staff, the policies...
Read moreSlightly tricky to find the hotel along and down an off the beaten track road although clearly signposted. Excellent car park and an attractive modern chalet type exterior. |We were very warmly greeted by the receptionist who could not have done more to advise us about things to do/see and restaurants/cafés. A map was annotated for us. Most helpful.|We were shown to our room downstairs but actually on the car park level. No lift but no problem. |Our room was large and spacious with a fridge and we were told free coffee and tea was available in the dining room. We could also have our own food in the dining room if we required. We didn’t have breakfast but this is provided in a box and seems to be plentiful.|Got some reason the room seemed soulless. It echoes the chalet décor but the pine is modern and basic. Bedlinen was blue seersucker duvet covers and a tan base sheet. It would have been so much nicer with crisp white sheets. We had a superior room with a modern but again dull sofa. There is only a car park view and blinds which go upwards to offer privacy. A notice stated leave windows open for freshness but masses of midges are outside at night and there is no insect net on the windows. |The bed is spacious and comfortable.|A workbench and chairs are provided with a wall mounted TV.|A very large bathroom with a good shower is again soulless with plain grey tiles and lots of unused space. The large basin is quite close to the shower and could easily have been placed further along the wall. Towels are provided which are ok but rather basic quality.|The whole room and bathroom have a hostel feel. We slept well but woke feeling rather clammy even though the air conditioning was on. Maybe being near the lake caused this issue. On leaving keys are left in a basket near to reception making departure easy. So a mixed bag. Location, free parking and reception are great but the room for me was...
