Čarman House — Hotel in Bled

This little hotel is very easy to get to, from Ljubljana you pass through the town of Bled and the hotel is overlooking the lake. It sits on the street so there is no real area to pull in to offload luggage, especially when there is a lot of traffic on the road (which is all the time). But the hotel does offer a car park option a couple of minutes walk away, although it is uphill||There is no elevator in the hotel, but there aren’t too many steps. Our room was a standard double room, it was quite small but did have a good size double bed, small table and chairs at the bottom of the bed, but there was no room on either side to put suitcases. There was a kettle in the room, but no fridge or microwave and the tea & coffee supplies were located outside the room on the landing. There are no blackout blinds so you might get woken up early in the morning with the sun. There is air conditioning in the room which worked well. There was also a flatscreen TV on the wall but we couldn’t get it to work ||The bathroom was a good size with a nice big shower which had good pressure. Wifi was available and it worked quite well||The restaurant downstairs does a lovely dinner although I would advise booking during the busy times as there is not that many places within walking distance. You do get a view of the lovely sunset over the island on the lake so it is worthwhile getting a table at the windows.||Breakfast is available in the same restaurant for €15 per person, there was an OK selection but not sure that it was value for money. The second morning we went over to the supermarket beside the hotel and bought croissants, pastries, yoghurt, fruit and then made coffee in the room for a lot less||The hotel does offer row boat rental for €25 for a hour, and as we were staying in the hotel they gave us an extra hour for free which was great.||The walk around the lake is quite nice and is only 6km and the walk into Bled town is only 25-30 mins. Watch parking in Bled though as we parked in a parking lot and went onto the parking app to pay and it all seemed to go through OK and money was taken from my card, but we still got a parking ticket on our car – not sure what happened||Overall this hotel is in a fantastic location, it is very comfortable and the staff were so friendly and helpful that I would definitely...

What a truly wonderful experience! Really ,if you are looking for the best hotel for your stay in Bled, look no further than right here at Čarman House. Trust me when i say i know all the in and outs of this hotel ,indeed for as long as i can remember there is not a single stay at Bled in which i didn't at least pass through to even say hello to the staff which never disappoints at being the most welcoming and dear staff one could encounter. Indeed in my 24 years of life there is not a single stay i didn't spend at Čarman. And as to be expected i didn't get the same room every-time ,and so i can confidently state that every single room in this establishment is comfortable ,welcoming and overall a great pleasure to stay in. Not to mention the decoration that is tastefully arranged in a vintage manner which in a sense encapsulates the rich historic past of Bled and it's vicinity. I have mentioned the staff of Čarman before but i'd like to give a honorary mention to it's Manager Vid whom always welcomes his client with a big smile and with such a sympathetic attitude that truly makes you feel at home . As for the emplacement of this lovely establishment ,it's located right on the shore of the lake (which you can see from lake side rooms with a lovely view) with great tasting restaurants in a radius smaller than 50m. Speaking of restaurants i should also mention the Čarman restaurant which is directly annexed to the hotel (it's really convenient to be able to go directly from the hotel part to the restaurant) A restaurant that again honours it's Čarman name by being by far one of the best tasting restaurants in europe! Really in a non luxury league ,this is truly top notch. With a local cuisine that's deliciously prepared by a renowned chef , the food there is absolutely worth the try , as much as to even say that the difference of food quality is palatable. while i'm at it i could share you a go to meal that will ravish your senses , so for a starter take the homemade mushroom stew which is perfect during the hot days due to having a good refreshing taste . And as for the meal i'd recommend a nice plate of istrian pasta with truffles which will just complete the experience ,not to mention the bartenders that are making the service quick...

TL;DR Don't stay here and don't get fooled by the pictures.

We booked a double room with no lake view because we were on a budget but the pictures on Booking seemed nice. It's okey, we said, we only need the room to sleep and shower. We had a great deal (340 € per 5 nights) but also because booked months in advance.

We were given room number 1, and it smelled really bad, humid and closed. The window had no views as expected, though we could see the workers from the near restaurant. Ok so far.

But, the cleanliness was subpar: glasses with lipstick, air conditioning and fan full of dust, the lamp of the bathroom was rusted, the cloth in the table dirty with glassmarks, sticky floor, the bed was bumpy and old, and so on. Check the pictures. Maybe other rooms are better but we were not given the chance.

We decided to cancel our reservation and called booking to ask for a refund. The response from the staff was mildly apologetic. They were more focused on selling boats to the tourists.

I don't recommend this place, the pictures on Booking don't reflect the reality and the staff was resourceless. We weren't given any possibility or any explanation about the state of the room (maybe the cleaning staff was lazy that day). I guess the reality they do that to other clients that don't complain to scam them or those book in the same day. We suspect also they remove the room from Booking so it's not possible to leave a bad review there. Also there are false extremely positive reviews written probably from staff or relatives.

Don't stay here and don't get fooled by the pictures. Our room was worse than a broom closet. Be aware. You can check other 1 star reviews and the photos. Our room hasn't been cleaned in 3 years as per one review. We are talking we were even worried...
