Izletniška kmetija DORNK — Restaurant in Bled

If you're looking for an authentic Slovenian experience, look no further than Izletniška Kmetija DORNK. It is the most local pub you can find here. Family owned and run for decades. The warmth and friendliness of the owners are immediately evident. We highly recommend sampling all their food and beers. They have a handful of home-brewed beers, and their cold plates of homemade food are simply the best. Think fresh, local ingredients and traditional Slovenian flavors—all served with a smile. This is our favorite place in Bled, as it felt like being invited into someone's home. The location will take you a little higher, and you have to waddle up or come by car, but it is worth it. The prices are superb as well, considering all are homemade and making it delicious. It is not a restaurant per se but more of a snack bar. We even wrote an extra blog post on our blog about it. For a couple of homemade beers and the biggest plate they had, we paid 30€. Also, note only cash payments are available (or Paypal).

What a fantastic experience! Monika’s “pub” is actually more her back porch in the most bucolic setting you can imagine. Just uphill from the lake in the small village of Mlino, the porch has a view of the mountains in an idyllic Slovenian country setting. With chickens roaming around under the tables, we sampled Monika’s homemade beer, cider, and schnapps. All were wonderful. We had just eaten a heavy lunch, so unfortunately we didn't have room for one of her charcuterie plates, though I am sure they were excellent too. We got the chance to tour her traditional Slovenian home (a very cool opportunity), and we were lucky to also meet Monika’s daughter and her delightful mother, Simona. What an absolute pleasure to meet Monica and be welcomed into her beautiful home. We arrived in off the street, soaking wet and carrying about 20kgs of luggage with us, looking for a warm spot to dry off and have a coffee. We found Monicas home and were welcomed in, felt so much better after a few coffees and even a specially made glueweinn! She went above and beyond to help us. Her genuine kindness made our trip to Bled so much more special. So happy we found this beautiful old Slovenian barn tucked away from the tourist hub .
