Tivoli Park and Rožnik Hill are true gems nestled right in the center of Ljubljana – a perfect escape from the city buzz without ever really leaving it. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this green oasis offers everything you could want from an urban park and forest: beautiful walking paths, cycling trails, shaded spots for a picnic, and scenic routes for jogging or hiking. It’s the lungs of the city, and you feel it the moment you step under the trees – cleaner air, cooler temperatures, and the calming sound of birds instead of traffic.
One of the best things about Rožnik is its accessibility. Within minutes, you can go from the city center to feeling like you’re in the middle of the countryside. It’s a favorite spot for weekend walks, morning runs, or simply clearing your head.
At the top of Rožnik Hill, the local inn (Gostilna Rožnik) has been making a comeback. While it had seen better days, it’s slowly improving, both in terms of its menu and service. You’ll find a more curated selection of Slovenian dishes, better coffee, and a generally more inviting atmosphere than in years past. It’s a welcome place to sit down and recharge after the climb, especially on a sunny day.
All in all, Tivoli and Rožnik are must-visits if you want to see where Ljubljana truly breathes – not just nature-wise, but culturally too. It’s where locals go to stay grounded, active, and connected to the...
