Came here with my husband for a short city break only to find out everything it says on the website is completely untrue. Yes, the design of the hotel is lovely and the rooms are very average, but that’s not what it’s advertised as. We got to our room and there was not even a kettle, any tea/coffee, glasses, nothing even though it says on their list with amendments it’s included in the room. We tried putting the heating on as it was FREEZING cold in our room, turns out the central heating hasn’t been turned on yet. Two months before Christmas! We wanted to order room service, checked the menu on the TV, called reception to do so only to find out they don’t even do room service even though it says it black on white they do. One our way out for the day, we left the sign that says we want our room to be cleaned. Came back later on to find out nothing has actually been cleaned. They’ve only changed our towels and have made our bed, but the floor was still dirty from where we’ve walked in with shoes. Next thing, we go to the bar for a drink around 9.30pm and we get told the bar is closed (but also full of people currently drinking, so obviously must have closed a couple of minutes before we got there). However we were not aware of that as at the time of our arrival we checked with the reception lady what time the bar is opened till and she told us 10.30pm. Now one more “little” detail, on their TV menu where it says everything about the hotel, the bar opening time is actually till MIDNIGHT!! So obviously they just play by ear and pick their own timings, which is extremely frustrating when you’ve made plans based on the information provided by THE HOTEL. Staff were not helpful at all. Didn’t even know what to say most of the time, so they’ll just stay there in a complete silence looking at you awkwardly. Overall, COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT. Would NOT recommend to anyone. NOT worth the money and would definitely...
Read moreWe recently stayed for three nights at this hotel. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival, and they gave us some tips on what we could do in the meantime. Once we checked in at 2:00 PM and went to our room, we were initially positively surprised. However, after a day full of activities, when we returned to our room, I noticed the following issues:
CONS:
ROOM:
The kettle was broken and didn’t work. Turning on the lights was very complicated, and we often ended up leaving the lights on when we left the hotel, as it took about 10 minutes to get everything turned off. The separation between the bathroom and the room could be improved. The curtain often got in the way when exiting the shower and sometimes became wet, with a bit of water spilling out from the shower. We had to place a small towel in front of it. The bedspread or blanket was EXTREMELY rough, and my partner and I kept wondering why our elbows were always red and felt like we had grazed them. The toilet paper wasn’t replenished, and we had to ask for more, but the cleaning staff didn’t want to give us any. There was no hairdryer, and you had to bring your own. BREAKFAST:
I was really looking forward to the hot dishes, but they were ALWAYS cold and could only be eaten cold. On Sundays, there seems to be a staff shortage, and there were too many guests. At times, we had to wait 10-20 minutes to get a glass, as everything had run out. Often, full glasses were simply taken away from us, even though we hadn’t finished yet. PROS:
CLEANLINESS AND ORDER:
They could clean daily if you put out the sign. They clean very well and always made everything fresh. ROOM:
Good mattress, you can sleep very well in it. They have a really nice shower, and shampoo and shower gel are provided. BREAKFAST:
There is a wide variety of sweet and savory options. Despite all the listed issues, I expected more for 4 stars than what we experienced.
I would rate the...
Read moreUPD: As a result, they charged us for a room we had cancelled two months before check-in, two weeks after our stay at the hotel. The money has just been withdrawn from the card. We settled this issue over email, and we got our money back, but it's surprising that this situation even happened after everything was already discussed. So 3 star for sure.
I was going to give it 3 stars, but the front desk agent who helped us with check-out was so nice that I’m giving it 4.
First of all, when we arrived, the receptionist tried to make us pay for two rooms instead of one. The issue was that two months before, we had booked a room with payment upon arrival. Then we realized we needed to pay upfront for our visa application, so we canceled the original booking, received a confirmation of the cancellation, and booked again with online payment. But their database didn’t show the cancellation, and the receptionist was like, "It's Friday evening, the people who can solve this are off work, so you have to pay now."
Like, what?
We argued a little, and the problem was only solved when another front desk agent got involved.
Then there were small but annoying things about the room that you could usually ignore, but together they ruined the impression:
No fridge No overhead light, only some dim night lights Just a hole in the sink instead of a proper drain stopper (I had to cover it with improvised items while doing my makeup because I was afraid I’d drop my accessories or makeup into the drain) One of the two key cards didn’t work No plug for the bathtub Exposed wires instead of a lamp Two separate mattresses instead of the one shown in the promo photo for a double room
That said, the breakfasts (with the pancakes maker), location, and room view were great.
So if you’re staying for 1–2 nights, it’s okay,...
