The St George Anglican Cathedral is located at Wale Street, Cape Town. It is a tourist attraction. I visited the Cathedral on 26 May 2023. It is the seat of the Arch Bishop of the Anglican Church Southern Africa. This building is an important tourist attraction. It is a distinguished architectural art work, in addition to all the other values that it stands for. The Cathedral is situated at 5 Wale Street, and is bordered on the south by the South African Library. The Western Cape Legislature is to its west. Victoria Street is wedged between the latter and the Cathedral. The Head Office of the church is located at Bishopscourt. The total Anglican members in South Africa is estimated at between 3 and 4 million.

Beautiful cathedral church! I was on my way to the museum and felt compelled to stop in to look around. I loved the architecture! I even prayed which is something I almost never do but I felt the need to do so because of my Anglican faith. Walking the path to the front, the study room and meetings room brought back memories of the little boy participating in Communion. If you’re ever in the area, please do stop in for a walk around and appreciate the beauty of this magnificent church. Donations are optional but appreciated to maintain the building.

Usually a lovely place to find peace in the city but they are currently working on the roof so there is too much noise for a supposed santuary. The cleaning staff are exceptionally rude. The toilets are closed to the public and if you by some miracle do get to them you have to pay R2. 00. I asked a staff member if I may use the toilets and she just gave a flat out and emotionless : "Nope". Furthermore, the Siyahamba labyrinth that they promote and advertise on a billboard outside does not seem to be open to the public. Hopefully they will improve soon.

Certainly not as impressive as some of the cathedrals you find in Europe, but if visiting cathedrals is your thing, this is not a bad option; it certainly saved you from travelling all the way to Europe to visit one. What makes St Georges special is the knowledge of the historical significance that it has in Cape Town. Well worth a visit. Not sure whether they do guided tours or what time they are open.

The seat of the Anglican Church in South Africa, Archbishop Desmond Tutu used to preside here from the Apartheid times into the advent of new South Africa. The service is high-church with incense and canticles, performed mainly in English but with parts in Afrikaans and IsiXhosa. It is an imposing interior and wonderful place with chapels for quiet contemplation and a meditation maze in the grounds.

Description
St. George's Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral in Georgetown, Guyana. The wooden church reaches a height of 43.5 metres. It is the seat of the Bishop of Guyana. St. George's was designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield and opened on 24 August 1892. The building was completed in 1899.
