The Sea Point Pavilion has been a feature of the Cape Town Atlantic board sealing since the 1950's. The swimming pool originally started as a tidal pool which was refreshed by the sea, it gradually evolved into one large swimming pool, and then was further divided into three smaller pools. The star of the show is the 50m Olympic size pool being the main offspring of the original tidal pool. There is also a diving pool with a 5m diving board. The water is still sourced from the sea but is circulated, filtered and treated with minimal chlorine levels. The pools are open to the public, requiring each entrant to pay a nominal amount. Currently the entire planet is subject to Covid-19 restrictions, therefore access is subject to the conditions. The pavilion also contains the smaller adjacent community area with shops and other businesses always welcoming customers. The pavilion is a vibrant part of the coastline.. Will definitely welcome a few move generations to come 😊

Currently the pools admit only 100 adults at any one time, so things are much quieter than usual but it's still advisable to arrive early in the day or you may have to queue for quite some time to get in. There is covid temperature screening at the gate, you are required to wear a mask when not in the water and to maintain social distance in and out of the water. There are four pools in total - a toddler's paddling pool (0.4m deep), a leisure pool for older children and adults (0.9m deep), an Olympic-sized lap pool (50m length, 1.5m depth) and a diving pool (5m deep). As far as shade goes, there are a few trees on one side close to the pools and a few more on the grassy area further from the pools. You can hire umbrellas and loungers. The bathrooms are kept clean but would be nicer with a revamp and the paving next to the pools could be kept cleaner - there are a lot of seagull droppings. Overall a visit to the pools is an excellent way to spend a few hours.

Good day

I would like to bring to your attention that we bought 3 adult and 6 kids tickets yesterday at 17:10 and were told that we have 1 and a half hours left for the pools. It was then announced not too long after entering the facility that the patrons had 30 minutes left in the pools. Patrons were complaining that the amount of time announced reduced significantly in a very short space of time which means that the person announcing this was falsifying the time left ALL THE TIME and I was witness to that!!

The pools clearly close at 7 and all patrons had to be out the pools at 6 o clock, bearing in mind that we came all the way from Mitchell's plain and we all working adults having to rush from work with kids.

The following is my concerns: If you are closing the pools at 6 o clock for swimming why are you still selling tickets right up until the end of closing time??? Patrons are paying to be at the facility till 7!!! If you are closing the pools at 6 o'clock why is this not communicated upon entry to the facility?? If this was told to us before entering we would not have frequented the facility!!! Is this all to make a quick buck?? I feel this is very unfair and dishonest to patrons.

Bear in mind that I am aware of the fact that pool needs to be cleaned with chemicals which need to work through for a certain no of hours.

For all the years that I have visited your facility never had I had to leave the pools at 6 o clock for "my own safety".

The COCT needs to come up with better solutions to this issues as it's very unfair and deceiving to paying patrons. Kindly note that I was not the only patron who felt this way.

Not only were the kids disappointed but I could have saved money and time if there was better communication from your side.

This facility needs to be better...

Coming every year to sea point pavilion was a blissful experience until today.

We came like every other year and guess what so many things has changed for the absolute worst experience of my life.

Knowing there are people working come to seapoint pavilion to enjoy there time and summer holiday. To my disgust the absolute rude and and disrespectful, disgusting behavior of management seapoint pavilion really put me as a customer off.

Online it shows the place close at 7pm but they shut the doors at 3pm already. I understand that there are too many people but shutting the door!

My brothers kids have spent the day wit me today and he wasn’t allowed in at 4pm even though the place closes at 7pm!

Yes there are people exiting at the same time but not allowing the father of the kids to enter that’s not human at all. I mean it’s still money coming in to the business but they chasing people away seriously! Even though you make millions I don’t think this behavior is acceptable at all. Like they say the wheel turns if it was your family here how would u have felt shutting the door in there face and the family Witnessed it.

I will never come back here due to this experience I understand you took our forks and spoons and we ate with our hands but seriously this have left me with no words at all.

I never knew that management could be so disgustful I’m actually...

We were so excited to finally be able to swim after being restricted in the middle of summer,

When we arrived the staff at sea point pools advised that they were at full capacity with only 100 people but said that they needed to wait for 50 people to leave before letting anyone else into the facility, It was only my daughter & myself which was 2 people and they advised that 8 people left but they will need wait until 42 more left before letting anyone else in,

Very disappointed in the way staff handled the situation, other people were asking questions the staff just answered with a simple "we full" and closed the brown doors leaving al of us in the hot sun.

The swimming pools are did not look full at all, so much space for about 50 more, even with covid restrictions we would not have been cramped in that large space.

I will definitely think twice before deciding to come Sea point swimming pools again this bad experience. We have been coming here every single year in the summertime and it will be a change in our tradition unfortunately .

With it being covid-19 restrictions a little more information would be appreciated when it comes to capacity and what exactly is...
