This fun fair is unsafe for young children. We had a terrible experience when my 4 year old nephew got electrically shocked visiting this place in Dec 2023. You will notice at every ride, there is an earth rod extremely close to the fence separating the ride (and operators) from the rest of the public. (see attached photo). Whilst waiting for the ride to stop and for his turn, my little nephew held onto the fence with one hand. He then reached to hold the fence with his other hand and instead held onto the earth rod. An electrical current went through him causing him to shake and scream in pain due to the burns on his hands.
The earth rods are extremely poorly positioned and a huge safety risk. Furthermore, the fact an electrical current was running through the earth rod suggests the electricals on these rides are questionable.
The management of the fun fair were apathetic. They offered little comfort, except for a juice. They did not offer an apology, they did not acknowledge negligence, nor did they follow up to check if our little one was alright. In fact, as my nephew was screaming in pain the maintenance guy went onto replicating my nephew actions (when the ride was off), trying to demonstrate that he was not getting shocked. I wonder if he was trying to prove that my nephew was lying about getting shocked. Either way, the safety measures and checks at this place is severely lacking, and a child could very well lose their life as a consequence of this negligence.
*The insulation tape was placed over the earth rod after the incident, however these rods are at every ride and only some of the...

Read moreWaterfall City Park in Midrand is one of those places that makes you feel like you’ve found a little pocket of calm right in the middle of the city. Nestled next to the Mall of Africa, it's become one of my favorite spots to unwind, whether I’m grabbing a coffee to-go or just enjoying some fresh air.
The park is beautifully kept – green lawns, shaded benches, and that gorgeous musical fountain that lights up at night. It’s especially magical in the evenings when the colorful lights reflect off the water – a great place to pause and relax.
On weekends, the vibe picks up in the best way. The Saturday morning parkrun is such a fun, welcoming community event – whether you’re a runner or just out for a stroll. Sundays are a treat too, thanks to the Waterfall Market. The live music, food stalls, and local art give it a cozy, festive feel.
If you’ve got kids, they’ll love the play area – it’s creative and safe, and there's always laughter in the air.
