I would not recommend that you waste your time on even walking into this restaurant. Yesterday, after a very long and stressful day and week, I just wanted to order a meal and relax before I went home. Got there and the waiter wanted us to sit at a certain table, there was another table that I wanted to sit at as it was more private. I asked the waiter if we could sit there, but she ignored us. The other waiter saw what she did and he asked if would like to sit at the table that we preferred and we said yes. We moved to that table and the first waiter came to us and asked if the other waiter said we could sit there. We said yes. The lady clearly was not happy, but she took our drinks order and left. The next minute both the waiters came to our table and asked us what happened and if he told us to sit there, we said no. He asked if we would like to sit there as he heard us and we were thankful, because he actually listened to our request. Just then the waiters got into a fight and they called the manager, who was very rude and said: "Can you see I am busy with other clients!" We decided to stand up and leave the restaurant and ended up at Spur, where the waiter was friendly and there was no drama. The behavior that was displayed was very unprofessional and we will never go there again. The last thing that I need on a Friday afternoon after a difficult day and a long week are waiters and managers having a fight about a table. Ocean basket, Mall of Africa, get your house in order, or I am sorry to say. I don't think your restaurant will keep it's doors open for very long. I was there with my family in the morning on 29-Jun-2024, and the waitress brought the heater and put it near to us because my baby daughter was with me. Then after 5 mins, another waitress took the heater to her clients, without asking me, just took it away directly. I asked my waitress whats wrong and she talked with the manager, then the manager asker her to bring another heater and put it near to us.
After around 2 mins, another waiter took the heater directly again without even asking me to another client!!! AGAIN!!! I then lost control and then asked what the xxxxing wrong?! I also talked with the manager which is white guy, and he is just useless and even didnt say sorry to me.
This restaurant is on my blacklist, FOREVER. Truly zero server level or minus! I dont suggest any friends to go there and make yourseld angry! I ordered a small food today and the price should be R99, and then the waiter gave me a bill with amount R570. I asked the waiter was the price correct but was told yes, and then I told the waiter to bring the menu, on the menu it was R99. Salmon platter arrived, the look was dodgy. We started with the salmon sashimi and both of us spotted it out as it was off. Told them that the fish was off and asked them to try it. The sushi chef was still insisting that it was good without even tasting it. It's a typical attitude of people in the hospitality/food and beverage in this part of the world to try and dodge complaints instead of taking them constructively and taking responsibility. As a doctor, a health and safety auditor and part of mystery dining, restaurants and food vendors should not play with people's health and lives.
You had several months looking forward to opening and starting to get a paid again. Do it the right way. And always remember arrogance will not take you anywhere. Since it was the opening, I saw few managers in the restaurant. Our complaint was brought to their attention and none of them came to talk to us. This speaks volumes why lower-ranking employees do things the way they do.
Also, it is about time that proper health and safety and food safety regulations are put in place in this country. Everyone, please choose restaurants if they have ISO and OSHAS safety accreditation before dining...
