Moo Moo Mall of Africa — Restaurant in Gauteng

It all began with us perusing the menu and noticing a few reasonable, intriguing options on the menu. A regular evening out for dinner, or so we thought. We ordered drinks, and what arrived was a rather bleak Cafe Mocha. I brushed this off, thinking it was their quality.

We ordered medium rare streaks, but what arrived was more towards the blue side 🧐. The roasted vegetables were very toasty and wrinkled. Our initial thoughts, surely a restaurant in the Mall of Africa cannot be serving this quality of food... 🤔

We called for the manager to have a friendly chat, and to our surprise, Manager Justin took control of the situation and presented to us a bowl of fresh roasted vegetables... 1000% better... and few other extras 😊 The steaks were sent back to be corrected.

What impressed us more, was the friendliness and humility of Manager Justin as we held further conversations to learn more about the quality the restaurant actually serves and strive for each day. My second Cafe Mocha was worlds better, just the way it should be 😉

The ambiance and atmosphere was great. It was nice and cozy, they even had the heater on. The managers check on us regularly to make sure we're happy. The waiter we had was hardly around though. The service was honestly lacking. I asked 3 different waiters for help out of the 6 times we needed assistance. I had to take the steak back cause it was undercooked. When the steak came back, half of it was still raw and the other half was cooked to order. We didnt get the chimichurri with our order and it would've added to the meal. But nevertheless, the food was tasty. But we had to ask the waiter to reprint the receipt because we were charged for something we didnt get.

I loved the attention to detail of the decor. I love that the centre piece on the table was grass. I love how the toilets are those you'd find in a barn and that there's moo sounds in the background. I love the farming/cow jokes in the menu too.

I would go back for another go, to hopefully get a better experience. But I wouldn't rush to go back cause my overall experience was a bit disappointing. It was...

MooMoo is an udderly delightful dining experience! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with a warm moo-sphere that set the tone for a fantastic evening. For starters, we moo-ved right into the Crunchy Hot Honey Wings, and wow, they were amazing! These wings were the best I’ve ever had – perfectly crunchy, tender, and bursting with flavor. They were simply moo-rvelous!

For the mains, I indulged in the FA-Moos Pork Loin Ribs. They were succulent, tender, and truly moovelous. I highly recommend giving them a try. My partner opted for the Chicken Flatty, and it was cooked to perfection. Every bite was a delight!

Our waiter was awesome, providing exceptional attention throughout the night. He made sure we had everything we needed and more.

The overall atmosphere was great. The décor is cow-themed from hoof to horn, and you can even hear cows mooing in the bathroom! The setup is calm and inviting, making MooMoo a perfect spot for a memorable night.

MooMoo truly made our evening one to remember. We can’t wait to return for another...
