I'm still reeling from the incredible dining experience I had at Rock'N'Mama's! This South African chain has won my heart with its mouth-watering flame-grilled burgers, succulent chicken, and finger-licking ribs. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I'm thrilled to share my review of this rockin' restaurant.

Ambiance: 5/5 Walking into Rock'N'Mama's, I was immediately struck by the lively atmosphere. The decor is a perfect blend of rock 'n' roll vibes and African charm, with bold colors and funky patterns. The staff were friendly and welcoming, setting the tone for a fantastic meal.

Service: 5/5 Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about the menu. Orders were taken promptly, and food arrived at a reasonable pace. The team seemed to be having a blast, which added to the overall energy of the restaurant.

Food: 5/5 Oh, the food! Where do I even begin? I opted for the Rock'N'Ribs, and boy, was it a revelation! The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, slathered in a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce that had me licking my fingers. The portions are generous, to say the least, so come hungry!

I visited last night for dinner and this was by far the WORST experience I've had at a RocoMamas. Service was just ATROCIOUS! The waitress (who was not wearing a name tag & failed to introduce herself) took 1 order at a time. She took my partner's drink order and didn't bother checking if I wanted something and just walked away. When I did eventually get her attention to take my drink order, she took the order for the one item and walked away again. I didn't understand this but we called her back to place orders for starters & mains. Now the food. We ordered the Southern Fried chicken burger, wings and chips combo. Everything was cold and with the winter weather we found this very annoying. The chips tasted like they had been fried at lunch and was just sitting on the counter before service. The Burger 😫 Gosh! This was so burnt and dry that it was bitter! I could not finish it. As much as we were looking forward to waffles, by this point we felt so disheartened and unwelcomed that we just called for the bill. Now RocoMamas has always been a family favourite but last night we were utterly disappointed. LATE 2022 The waffle has definitely improved but my fries were a bit unflavourful and the burger bun was stale. The wings weren’t well done and I swear I could smell a bit of over burnt batter on the chicken, but the overall food presentation was good. I don’t like giving Rocomamas bad reviews because they are one of my favourite spots. Please improve your quality control.

EARLY 2022

Great open location within the mall, and the guy serving us was good. I’ve been to various Rocomamas branches but for some reason I just didn’t enjoy the pork ribs this time around. We ordered wings, ribs and fries combo. The wings and fries were crispy and delicious as always. I also ordered a waffle and unfortunately did not enjoy it at all. The icecream was already melting by the time it arrived on our table and within 10 seconds, the waffle was literally swimming in white sauce. Our waiter noticed this and brought extra icecream, and I applaud him for that but the chef/franchise needs to either purchase better icream or figure out a way of serving the dessert while the ice-cream is still intact.
