Great Location, Good Service with Room for Improvement

City Lodge Waterfall is a solid choice for travellers seeking proximity to the Mall of Africa and other key attractions in Waterfall City. The breakfast was excellent, and the overall service was good—until a conflict arose that revealed gaps in resolution and staff accountability .

The Issue: During my stay, I requested an iron at midnight after the cleaning staff removed mine. Despite repeated assurances from reception that it was delivered (even claiming it was left outside my door), it never arrived. When I went downstairs to clarify, the situation escalated unnecessarily. The receptionist, Karabo, spoke disrespectfully, and the manager present failed to address her tone—focusing only on sourcing another iron. It later turned out the iron had been sent to the wrong room, making the earlier accusations toward me unjustified.

Highlights:

· Prime location near amenities and transport links . · Tasty breakfast and generally attentive service . · Comfortable rooms with good cleanliness ratings (though housekeeping inconsistencies occur) .

Areas for Improvement:

· Conflict resolution: Staff should prioritise listening and apologising for mistakes rather than deflecting blame. · Nightshift protocols: Ensure requests are tracked accurately to avoid guest frustration.

I’d stay again for the convenience but hope management invests in better staff training for handling disputes. A little accountability would...

This modern and comfortable hotel features the #Café restaurant serving full breakfast, lunch and light evening meals; two meeting rooms catering for 10 guests and 16 guests; uncapped WiFi; sundowner bar; fitness room; and sparkling swimming pool. The hotel is close to the Sandton and Midrand CBDs; Gautrain Midrand Station; major highways; various major conference venues including Gallagher Convention Centre, Kyalami International Convention Centre and Netcare Waterfall City Hospital." Me and my friends had the best weekend here, we enjoyed he pool area and our room had an awesome view of the waterfall area and plus we could walk to Mall of Africa beacuse its just 2min away and we could go hang out at Waterfall...

I love this brand of hotels because what you see on their pages and website is what you get even when you book through booking agencies. Their services are amazing throughout the country and they train their staff well.

I am one of those demanding clients, but everyone is always happy to help me enjoy my stay no matter what. Please bear in mind that this does not mean that I ask for impossible things, but that I gave too many questions that I want answers before check-in and have a lot of requests for things offered in the hotel.

I love this particular place because they have a beautiful and spacious glass bathroom, amazing views of waterfall city and an in-house gym that I always put to good use when I am there. Because with my hectic schedule I never get time to go to the gym, and now that I stay in a village I don't even have access to one.

My stays here are always great and if you are a big eater like me, I suggest you add breakfast to your stay because you will have a variety of foods to choose and enjoy with a lot of time to do so without rushing...
