The owner of the restaurant spoke to us in a friendly manner outside the restaurant as we looked at the menu to see if we could find something to eat. After we agreed, he took us to a table and gave us a QR code for the English menu. Although we were personally brought to this table by the owner, we were ignored by the waitress for 10-15 minutes. And we weren't the only guests this happened to. A few tables away, two ladies got up after a few minutes and left after being ignored by the waitress. And this despite the fact that the tables were not even half full and the staff apparently had enough time to play on their cell phones in front of the customers instead of going about their work. It was only after I looked a member of staff provocatively in the eye for several seconds that he came to our table, annoyed, and asked what we wanted. All the staff made an annoyed impression, even those who didn't serve us. They gave the impression that they had no desire to work in the restaurant at all.
We ordered a burger and a paella. The burger was served with a few potato wedges and the portion wasn't particularly large, but it was enough for me. The burger wasn't bad in terms of taste. At least until I got into the cheese. I've never seen a burger served with Brie cheese from France before. This cheese didn't fit at all and unfortunately destroyed the taste. The paella was no worse in taste than in other restaurants. However, the portion was about a third of that in other restaurants, but €6.00 more expensive.
The restaurant's biggest cheek, however, is that both dishes were listed on the menu at €19.90, but both ended up costing €21.90 each on the bill. 2.00€ more per portion. This is fraud! Two small waters for €3.75 each is just as much of a rip-off. In other restaurants in the city, the price for water was between €1.50 and €2.00. So we paid over 51.00€ for two people for dinner, which neither filled us up nor tasted particularly good. I understand that restaurants on the beach charge higher prices, but this was a real rip-off. In the end, I'm not surprised that the restaurant wasn't even half full, while the restaurant right next...

After waiting over 20 minutes and our drinks had still not arrived, I got a call and we had to leave so I told a member of staff apologies and left.
Next thing the entire waiting staff team come running across the plaza to try and make me pay. I said "I didn't have anything and our drinks never arrived?" The waitress screaming at me then grabbed my child's pram and I screamed back at her and warned her not touch my baby or me. I told them to call the police if I had done anything illegal as there was no way I was paying for drinks we never received.
This waitress and another man (who seemed like a supervisor and was fairly reasonable about the situation but could not control this crazy waitress) continued to follow me all the way down street screaming at me and screaming at everyone "they didn't pay their bill". It was me and a friend and was not only with my 1 year old but am also pregnant and this waitress was trying to grab me and trying to grab my friend and corner us so we couldn't pass and really scared my poor daughter who was crying at this point. Luckily eventually we found police and I explained what had happened. Of course the first question the police asked was " but did you have anything to drink?' I said no of course not we never saw our drinks as they never arrived. He simply took my name and immediately let me leave.
The crazy staff that that has followed me all this way said they will denounce me which I will very much be looking forward to and in which case i will be suing them for harassment, aggression and attempted assault of a minor for continuously grabbing my child's pram. The waitress in question is not fit for a job dealing with the public and needs to be institutionalized.
Never ever go to this establishment they are truly degenerates and looking at the other reviews, clearly I am not the only one...
Read moreI have eaten here more than 10 times since moving to Barcelona, and I have to say that it is one of the best dining experiences that you will have while visiting.
Many of the restaurants on the beach cut corners or have too much frozen food to keep up with the never-ending line of tourists, but El Pacifico has the best fideua I have experienced in Barcelona. The appetizers, especially the calamari, are fantastic, and the wines are fairly priced. The best part about the restaurant is the location - you are literally eating great food steps from the beach, but you don't have the foot traffic that the other chiringuitos have.
The management and staff are professional and friendly - they give great recommendations on dishes, and great service. They are consistent, and apologize if there are any mistakes with your meal.
The only problem I have experienced is the time between ordering and receiving a meal - I imagine due to the high volume of traffic, it makes it a bit difficult to be faster, so if you are in a rush, you might want to visit later in the day. Also, I would like to see them put the oysters back on the menu!
If you are in BCN and want an a great meal, overlooking the sea, beach, and boardwalk, this is...
