La Font del Gat — Restaurant in Barcelona

I was vacationing in Barcelona and stumbled upon this place after some sightseeing it is a beautiful spot and was exactly the vibe we were looking for. Excited to be there my family and I selected 2 bottles from a strong selection. After receiving our bottles we were sent away without wine glasses and told they didn’t have any. I returned and asked again with a look of frustration they said no. I ask what seems to be an owner/off duty manager figure who had been between a table and behind the bar for glasses imagining he would ensure we had some after spending €90 on two bottles. Once again “we’ll bring to you in 6 minutes”. At this point I’m visually watching other guests leave with glasses of wine and the owner/manager figure comes out with some for his own table.

As a restaurant owner over several concepts it appalled me to a point I left which is a first for me. Left cause I couldn’t stand to be there after being told 3 times they were out or waiting on glasses then later serving other guests while earlier problems hadn’t been rectified. Truly hope it was an off day cause a place that beautiful deserves a good team and not one that lets that type of...

Really tasty experience to eat there!

We found that place by accident - we were looking for a different restaurant. Encouraged by lovely garden, we decided to sit for a while.

Prices are rather high but one can feel it in the taste of meals. Everything was served in a way that satisfied both the eye and tastebuds. Our rissotto was perfect - not too dry as well as not overcooked. Cod carpaccio on the other hand lacked the taste of a fish - orange was too overwhelming, but those are just personal tastes. Desserts were well balanced - not extremely sweet (catalanyan cream, pear in red wine ) or too sour (lemon sorbet).

What made the visit worth 4 but not 5 stars was the waiting time - at the beginning for the waitress to come to us and show the table, then for the meals to be served - we were waiting oven an hour. Truth be told, we hadn't been in a hurry but anyway it's not a advantage to wait that long.

All in all it doesn't seem like the place for a quick lunch and you need to be patient there, but if you happen to be nearby,...

We visited this restaurant last thursday at 3 pm. We sat down to a free table and waited 20 mins until a waiter came up. We asked for the menu. He disappeared and nothing happened for another 15 mins and we saw him serving other tables. Then when another waiter passed by I called him and asked for the menu. He started to say something in very bad English that they are not serving food and the kitchen is broken and there is only one cook, etc. Yet, a group of old ladies just had a decent lunch at another table and when another couple showed up they were seated and immediately handed two menucards. Also the full menu was on display in front of the restaurant. I asked for at least a fruit salad, which was consumed by others next to us, but he refused, so we stood up and left. Why did not the first waiter tell us there was no food? How come others were served and we were told there was no kitchen? We did not get any explanation, the waiter was rude and spoke very bad English. I do not recommend anyone to go to...
