Without a doubt, Frigiliana is a beautiful place. We spent a week there in May, and our host said that it's a quiet time before the tourist season, so it's easy to imagine that this place is going mental during the summer peak. Fantastic place to spend some time while going for a walk or sitting in a restaurant or pub. This town is very short of parking spaces and it's a serious issue as we can't park our car close to our place and we noticed many drivers going there and back, up and down the road in the hope of finding a gap for their car, especially in the area of the school and old town. The gift shops are well-stuffed and reasonably priced, and if you want to buy a souvenir - don't wait or waste your time for the weekly Thursday market. Simply, it's a mistake, expensive and nothing special to pick. Instead of wasting your time at the market, you better order something to eat at the nearest restaurant or cool down with an ice cream selection at Heladeria Virtudes. You can also go to find the hidden gems of restaurants in the upper town. The pharmacy in the middle of the central Square is well-equipped and the staff is very helpful as you may need their help when burned by the sun. There are no trees, a lack of cooling shadows, many steps, and steep paths with careless drivers and motorcyclists. Highly recommended for...
Read moreWanted to book for a date in May, but we had one question we wanted answering first regarding if the pool would be available at this time (some sites this property is listed on state the pool is only available June-Oct). We submitted our question and when the owner replied 2hrs later we found he'd jacked the prices in May up by nearly 50%. All the prices in the surrounding months stayed the same. When we asked why this had happened the owner essentially ignored our question and simply claimed that this price was so good because it would cut out the middle man of a site like vrbo. Extremely dubious practice bumping the price up then asking for direct bank transfer without any kind of protection.
Therefore, for this horrendous price gouging following our display of interest, and the subsequent refusal to even acknowledge this terrible behaviour, I can only give one star. If I could invoice the owner for the wasted hours our group put into selecting this property originally I would...
Read moreFirst visit today to the 'white village' of Frigiliana, near Nerja. Whilst a bit touristy, the charm of the old town area, with steep, narrow streets and colourful doors and windows on the original houses, was easy to celebrate. Fresh views are awaiting around every corner, and over 70 restaurants and cafes are tucked away in quiet corners. It's easy to spend a day here and want to return for more. There is an underground car park close to the village, though we found some on road parking 400 meters before. It's not possible for visitors to drive beyond this. The streets are way...
