The girl must have been having a bad day. I was pointing at a photo because the gelato featured wasn’t named on the menu on the cart but was on the promotions page. She then proceeded to ask me what size and I was still trying to decide what else to get so I put my hand up and said to please wait Whilst I turned around to my friend to ask them what they want and then go back to ask her if I can have more flavours, turn back and see she already had put one flavour in a cup for me with a scowl. She then said it was my fault for asking for the photographed icecream but I was telling her she completely misunderstood me and rushed and pressured me whilst rushing to do the icecream when the store had no other customers. She seemed so reluctant to just let me order properly even telling me I had to pay one euro for the wastage. In the end I got my own order and she didn’t charge me the extra euro but for such an esteemed franchise it seemed like such arrogant service. Other icecream shops were patient and explained how everything works. I feel it was the girls own fault for scooping before I had even finished ordering and had even told her to wait . Also the icecream didn’t really taste like anything special. The atmosphere and shop is well presented. But it...
Read morePhil, of Feed Phil and Anthony Bourdain have nothing on me when it comes to eating ice cream and/or gelato, so for what it's worth, my Girona Gelato enthusiasts, here is my assessment of the gelato joints in Girona. The Rocamboesc seems to be top choice for gelato on Google Search . But how does it stack up to other Girona shops. Rocamboesc gelato had a creamy texture ; of the six flavors available, the chocolate flavor was good; add-on confectionaries were sparse and a little blah; cone was, what can I say, a cone; overall price was highest of the seven gelatorias that I partook of while in Girona. In my opinion and I fancy myself a purveyor of fine creams, the "go-to" place for gelato in Girona goes to "The Gelatoria la Giocanda" on Placa de Catalunya, near Pont de Pedra Bridge. II had an excellent selection of flavors,; creamy texture; excellent "built-in" confectionaries; cone was still, just a cone and it was low to mid price of the seven gelatorias. The product was served by a gracious lady with a smile. The product...
Read moreWhen you are in Rome do what the Romans do. So we did. So I've heard about 3 brothers, one is owner of this gelateria, other has some michelin ⭐️restaurants and one is sommelier. I've had much better ice creams, not much to choose and if you respect your self and ice creams as a culture some of toppings are ridiculous (like some candies and marshmallows, cookies and blueberries (not the real from woods but bigger tasteless versions) To say something more about ice creams; 6 flavors, from the machine (Taylor or CARPIGIANI who knows, everything is covered in wallpaper). So, I eat icecream in Mexico- Heaven on earth, the best one in Firenze- when I feel down I think about it and feel better, but even one in Fontana di Trevi full of rude tourists and with "I Puffi " flavor is better. Even I cornetti are pretty bland. 3 stars bc none of us did have any stomach issues . And girl who works there...
