Playa Mogan — Attraction in Mogán

We loved our visit to this beach. Having spent the afternoon wandering around Puerto de Mogan old town and then visiting the mirador viewpoint for some awesome views (see separate pages for reviews), we decided to chill out on the beach with some ice creams we bought in a shop nearby. There are lots of facilities nearby so definitely a good place if you want to get something to eat or drink after being on the beach. It's close enough that one member of the party could pop to get some drinks/ice creams/snacks whilst the others stayed on the beach, but everything is so nice and clean that it doesn't feel like the town is encroaching. This is everything a beach town should be! There's parking nearby too, which is a bonus.

The beach itself is beautiful golden (imported) sand. You can hire sunbeds with parasols as on a majority of the beaches on the island, but you can also sit on the sand with a towel which is what we did. The beach is in a little cove, so it's sheltered and the waves are gentle. We didn't go swimming as we didn't bring a change of dry clothes, but we did go paddling as deep as we could without getting our clothes soaked! The sea was lovely and clear and we could see lots of little fish in the water, we whiled away a good amount of time just looking at them. A good spot for snorkelling.

Would definitely recommend this beach: Playa de Mogan was our joint favourite with Playa de Amadores. Great...

Questa spiaggia è stata la quinta visitata dopo playa del ingles, playa meloneras, playa de amadores e anfi del mar. Era una tappa obbligata, vista la sua popolarità. Allora: punti positivi certamente il mare: acque pulite (al mattino) e senza onde. Se arrivate alle 9.00 trovate parcheggio gratuito e potete scegliere dove posizionare il vostro ombrellone sulla spiaggia. Malgrado l'acqua gelida a quell'ora, vi consiglio vivamente di fare il bagno perché ci sono molti pesciolini e l'acqua è davvero pulita e senza nemmeno un'onda. Punti negativi: il weekend si riempie di famiglie e gli ombrelloni sono uno sull'altro, non c'è spazio nemmeno per andare a fare un tuffo. A partire dalle 11.00 infatti la spiaggia si riempie tantissimo: molti spagnoli e canariani dell'entroterra, tantissimi bambini, gli ombrelloni uno sull'altro, l'acqua si sporca tantissimo e la spiaggia, a differenza delle altre che si svuotano alle 18.00, rimane piena fino alle 20.00. Se avete bambini questa spiaggia per voi è ottima (a condizione che non abbiate problemi con le donne a seno nudo, che però sono presenti su tutte le spiagge dell'isola) in quanto i vostri bambini faranno facilmente amicizia con altri bambini presenti, ma se siete una coppia o persone in cerca di tranquillità e silenzio, questa spiaggia è assolutamente da evitare (soprattutto il we) perché la vicinanza tra gli ombrelloni e i capricci dei bambini creano una situazione di caos, lontana anni luce dall'idea di vacanza!! Il porto è molto caratteristico, pieno di fiori, merita una visita! Il lungomare e' pieno di negozi (anche di marchi importanti), bar e ristoranti (molto molto turistici) che affacciano sul mare. Mancano docce e toilettes sulla spiaggia. Il parcheggio, se non lo trovate sulle strisce bianche, è a pagamento a 14 euro per l'intera giornata. Al porto si possono praticare molti sport acquatici. Nel complesso, posto molto turistico ed ho notato che molti italiani pernottano qui, ma a mio avviso c'è molto di meglio! Tuttavia, se avete tempo, merita una visita perché il porto è davvero caratteristico e il territorio si differenzia molto da quello delle...

This beach is one of my favorites in Gran Canaria. The waves are typically small which is good if you have smaller children. It also reduces the noise level on the beach. The sand is soft, but the small grains make it prone to end up everywhere, especially if it is windy. There are several restaurants very close by, with typical tourist-prices. Not very expensive, but definitely not cheap. There are also several stores very close to the beach and a viewpoint where some of the attached images were taken. You can park close to the beach and pay, we paid 6 euro for a full day. But you can also find free parking a few hundred meters...
