Very nice hotel, we enjoyed our stay. We were traveling with a dog and the facilities for the dog were good as well. A small playing area with a fence for the dog was really nice, and during breakfast we could take her on the terrace (as the dog is not allowed in the breakfast area). Breakfast and the staff was really good. Nice diversity of food and drinks. Super friendly and har working staff to make breakfast service a good start of the day. Rooms really nice as well with nice view, super clean everyday. Maybe a small kettle and some coffee/tea could be nice to improve the room. Fridge quite large to store some drinks. Nice pool, not very large but fits to the hotel, during our stay not too busy at the pool and all the time beds/seats available. Small disadvantage after around 17.00 hrs sun disappears behind the hotel building. which made it less inviting to stay till later in the afternoon around the pool. Maybe a few parasols during day time would be good as well. Parking space OK, but quite busy (full) during our stay. Nearby parking at the restaurant next door is good alternative. Charging of electric cars at the parkingplace very useful, as the options for fast charging in the area are limited (although charging in most of the parking garages in San Sebastián is possible and works well). During our stay all the time 1-2 chargers (out of 5) were not working. With the V2C app it works fairly easy, if not the hotel staff at the reception is quick and friendly to support. Only point of attention is that other cars park/occupy the charging places (while not EV or not charging). Hotel is located on a hill, which offers you a very nice view from the room/pool/terrace, but also means it is a bit of a walk to the old town for dinner in the evening. We were with a car, but without it is at least 30 minutes (nice) walk to the city centre (after 10 minutes you walk next to one of the best city beaches in Europe). A bus stop is close to the hotel as well, 2 minute walk. We enjoyed very much our stay, as it is a perfect base to stay with a dog, enjoy the pool, be close to the beach and explore San Sebastián and the...
Read moreLovely hotel with warm and friendly staff. We booked two rooms for three nights in the middle of high season. Our room was bright and sunny with a big picture window looking out onto the city from high on the hill--it was a wonderful way to wake up every morning. The breakfast was a bit on the expensive side, but it is very convenient, fresh, and has a nice mix of traditional Spanish desayuno options while also catering to world travelers. The pool was a great place to have a nice chat with other guests, and the small size of the hotel sets a warm and friendly tone. The front desk was always helpful, even going above and beyond to help us negotiate a problem with our rental car company. It is very easy to get up and down the hill on foot or by bus, but interested travelers should know that it is a real hill. The location away from the central city areas also help keep it quieter. Other reviewers have mentioned that the walls are thin, but that was not a problem for us. Every once in a while a neighboring guest would make some noise, but it stayed quiet at night. It feels like a hotel for grown-ups. I hope I get the chance to stay...
Read moreGreat hotel! Currently spending the second of three nights at Holel Avendia. This hotel is a very comfortable and convenient place to stay in San Sebastian, it is well known so taking a taxi from the central city is very easy. There are bus stops a short distance from the hotel to take you into the main parts of San Sebastian for convince, but walking to the main parts is not difficult if you're willing. The wifi here will surely suffice, not super fast but you can absolutely use it as you need. The pool is nice, comfortable beds and the showers are fantastic. I have been very pleased with my stay here, staff is very friendly and it is easy to communicate in English with them, however attempting to speak in Spanish will definitely give you some bonus points with them, I suggest it even if your Spanish conversation is limited. Great hotel to stay in...
