So it is all under construction. At least as of April 9th 2024. It is surrounded by the black tarp. Which is seriously unfortunate. I mean the surrounding area is still nice and if you move back you can see it to an extent like in my photos. Just a bummer that couldn't fully see it. Also this is free. You don't need tickets just walk to it.

Im Jahr 2020 erhielt das Denkmal eine umfassende Restaurierung und wurde mit einer Bio-Patina versehen. Die Bronzeplastik namens Autour du monde stammt von dem Franzosen René de Saint-Marceaux. Das Weltpostdenkmal steht seit 1909 auf der Kleinen Schanze. Über einer Felsformation erhebt sich ein Wolkengebilde mit einer Weltkugel. Um diese herum schweben fünf Frauengestalten. Diese symbolisieren die fünf Kontinente: Asien, Afrika, Ozeanien, Amerika und Europa. Die Frauen halten sich nicht etwa an den Händen, sondern reichen einander Briefe zu. Rechts davon sitzt eine gekrönte Frauenfigur am Wasserbecken, neben sich ein Schild mit dem Berner Wappen darauf. Die Berna schaut dem Weltgeschehen zu.

“Autour du monde” is the name of the work that René de Saint-Marceaux designed for the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (1874). In 1909 the factory was brought from the studio in Neuilly-sur-Seine near Paris to Bern in around sixty rail car loads and then inaugurated in the presence of 63 delegates from 52 countries. Federal Councilor Forrer promised “that the Swiss Confederation will faithfully guard and preserve the work, a sacred property under international law”. And so it still stands there and is hardly noticed by the park visitors, but is certainly still...
