Either morning, afternoon, or evening, this mochi shop always have long queue! But the pace is quick, so don't worry to wait a little bit to try this famous snack. They have some flavors and each mochi is 15 NTD. I bought two of them, red bean (紅豆)and grated coconut? (菜浦米). I'm not sure what's inside the second one, it's like small shrimp and grated coconut and some vegetables. The taste kinda salty. Should try this one if you like salty flavour. But I prefer the red bean for...

Fave place for 草仔糕 in Taiwan, always have to visit when in Jiufen! Flavors are: red bean, mung bean, sour pickled vegetables, taro with meat, and radish with meat. Favorites are always the salty mung bean, the taro with meat and the pickled radish ~ 15nt for one, super fast service and quality consistently delicious! You can also watch them being made behind the service counter and can buy bulk boxes to-go, or pick and choose...

During my trip to Taipei, I visited this place and tried the Preserved Radish, which was really good. The flavor reminded me of chai tau kueh, and it left a lasting impression. Queued up for the mochi-like snack. Got the taro which wasn't chewy. More like yam Kueh. Recommend for people who love yam. Preserved Radish was really good. The skin is a little on the sweet side which went well with the savoury preserved Radish. Loved every bite. Red Bean was good too. Smooth red Bean paste which wasn't overly sweet with a chewy skin. Overall worth the queue.

No fluff savoury rice cakes; pure ingredients; well executed and minimal seasoning. Been coming here since I was little and still tasted the same after two decades. Be sure to get them while they just come out fresh from the steamer - or else the taro cake tasted stale. The pickled radish herbal one was delicious even served chilled.
