Kokomi Izakaya Restaurant — Restaurant in Zhongshan District

After over 2 weeks of consistently great food throughout Japan, we were having some difficulty adjusting to the admittedly cheap but mediocre food scene in Taipei. So we were very pleased to find this small-plates Izakaya restaurant. It was surprisingly quiet when we walked in on a Sunday night. We ordered sashimi, amaebi, salad with grilled squid and passionfruit dressing, grilled Japanese mountain yam with fish roe, grilled pork belly wrapped around green orions. Every dish was delicious. Lovely simple oasis on a busy Boulevarde in Taipei. The food is personal and handcrafted in contrast with the Miramar Hotel nearby which is mass produced and tourist-bland.
