Very nice and friendly staff. Cozy homey atmosphere. Please keep in mind that the elevator is slow and meant for use by one party at a time and is closet size.
There is communal kitchen with dishes and utensils, pantry, bathroom, laundry on the first floor. At time of this writing, 50 TWD for a load of wash or dry including detergent. Need to wash your own dishes after you are done. There are free snacks, instant drink packs (coffee, oolong tea, milk tea, green tea) as well as fruits and candy sometimes.
The hostel is right across from the 228 park entrance and is close to alot of different places. There's a 24/7 7-eleven right across the street. There's also alot of food places around the hostel. In the vicinity (10 min walk), there is Ten Ren (2 of them!), 50lan, 7-11 (multiple, like 5+), beef noodle place, Rolex, Starbucks, cafes, City provincial God Temple, National Taiwan museum, Uniqlo, Citibank, 228 museum, NTU, President's Hall, etc.
The hostel is also close to 4 mrt lines, red line ntu hospital being the closest as you walk less than 5 min by cutting though 228 park. The next closest station is ximen, which connects to both the blue and green line. The furthest would be Taipei main station with access to both the blue and red line as well as the purple airport line. Right by Taipei main station is Taiwan's first mall (Shin Kong Mitsukoshi) which has a food court in the basement covering two levels.
Don't expect ultra high end or spacious room. Quad room has no windows. There's not really space for you to put away any clothes so expect to be living out of your suitcase. The bathroom is shower and toilet, very small size but efficient use of space. Fairly common to have shower with out a separation from toilet in Taiwanese residential bathrooms
No fridge in room, have to store perishables in communal fridge downstairs. They provide you clear zip bags and pen to label with your room number and date. The hostel gives you a map to get around and are very willing to accommodate you in making sure you don't get lost and ask about your plans for the day. There's also guest umbrellas in lobby for your use if needed. The walls can be thin but I think that is normal for any hotel.
I stayed 6 days first week of April. I was also on the very top floor. Next door to me was a family room I think that can fit six, they had window with views of the park, which...
Read moreNice and cozy hotel, the environment is very clean, the lobby is well designed and decorated, the staffs are really friendly! They even guided us how to travel around the area and introduced places of attractions :) and the location is really convenient as there is many shops, places of attraction and MRT station within walking distance. Hence, the 4-pax room I stayed has insufficient space, no window, and the edges of the metal bed rack is very sharp, accidents and injuries easy to happen if not aware. The rubber initially fixed at the sharp edges might have fallen off as i see there is a mark there. Please fix it asap to prevent accidents. Besides, climbing up the stairs is very tiring as i stayed at the 5th floor, but luckily the staffs helped us to carry our luggages :D despite the conditions in the hotel room, overally it is actually a nice place to stay especially if you come with a small...
