Taipei Guest House — Attraction in Taipei

Taipei Guest House is only open to the public one day a month, so I’m glad we were able to visit while we were in Taiwan.

There is no cost to enter, and you don’t even have to show any ID or go through security like at the Presidential Office Building.

There is literature and the descriptions and videos are in Chinese, English, and Japanese.

Please be aware that there is a long and steep flight of stairs up to the 2nd floor, and they don’t want you holding onto the banisters because they are antique. But there is also a modern elevator hidden behind a wooden door that you can take if you have difficulty navigating stairs.

The architecture is an ornate European style from the era of Japanese occupation.

All the staff and volunteers are very friendly, and one of them made a little origami bird for my toddler.

Taipei Guest House is a national landmark which only opens 12 days per year (once every month) remember to check their website before planning your trip! The Guest House is a historical and a beautiful estate with a lovely garden~ very nice to spend a weekend afternoon there.

風格:十八初世紀安妮女王時期(2019年奧斯卡金像獎:真寵)，約康熙50-60年，演的就是「安妮女王」 十九世紀初:維多莉亞風 十八世紀中期:法國馬薩式屋頂 二十世紀初:Art Deco工業風 台北賓館「御泊所」由當時自日本帝國來台-森山松之助(囑託)設計。他是個才華揚溢的怪人，是日本望族之後。幼時體弱多病，中學休退學多次，進軍校也體能不及格被辭退，又常忘情風花雪月場所，亦留戀藝妓場所之間。文學、建築皆有所成果，受業於日本明治時期建築大師-辰野金吾，畢業於東京帝國大學造家科，1898年後更名：「建築系(尹東忠太教授改名稱)」，1906年又因機緣來台，又因為個性因素主動放棄升等正職機會，追求自我實現於建築物上。他不太像守舊的日本人，在台灣建築則遠及台南(舊台南州廳，今改名為：台南文學館)，是目前留存在台灣日治前期主要且建築量體最大最多的建築師。由北至南包含：基隆郵便局(已消失)、北投溫泉浴場、台北水道唧筒室(臺灣水博物館)、台灣總督府、東京勸業台灣分行(衡陽路土銀臺灣博分館)、土木部(原國防部博愛大樓)、台北市電話交換局(博愛路168號)、台北賓館、台北州廳(現今監察院)、台中州廳(已消失)、台南州廳(台南文學館)，部份設計的台灣鐵道博物館，幾乎囊括現今知名日治時期建築，而他的建築樣式多變，明治後期在日本主流建築樣式分別為「英、法、德式」，紅磚白帶的辰野金吾式(日本東京驛、勸業東京總行等)，台灣總督府即是辰野式。而總督府前五百公尺左右的台北賓館又一變為法國式「馬薩式屋頂」的主體外觀，展現他多元的建築世界。 台北賓館「御泊所」說它是法式(馬薩式)也不盡然。一樓雙柱採希臘「托斯坎柱」，二樓則為「愛奧尼克柱」。外牆採用木材、鋼筋混泥土及花岡岩合造，經研究...
