I visited Warorot market in January, 2023 - was looking for some little gifts/souvenirs for my friends. From my experience can say the market looks like a typical place where local people feel brave enough to lure money from naรฏve tourists like me.

Example #1. A small bag of dried jasmine flowers.

It was the first time in my life that I couldnโ€™t smell anything from dried flowers. Even if herbs are 10 years old you still can smell the aroma of it. This jasmine was probably born more than 10 years ago. Hot water also didnโ€™t help this jasmine-granny to recall its younger age and water remained innocently pure without any additional scent.

Example #2. A package of 5 different dried flowers.

Quite fainted color of flowers alarmed me, and I dared to say about my suspicions to a saleswoman who was actively encouraging me to buy it. To my surprise she didnโ€™t get confused and immediately pulled out of a big sack other packages with visibly fresher color and said: โ€œThese ones are not oldโ€. I bought it and it was a mistake. Again โ€“ no aroma, no tasty Thai herbal tea but I learned my lesson: For every side of the counter there is different meaning of โ€œbeing too oldโ€.

Examะทle #3. Dried durian.

After my bad luck with dried flowers I was naturally suspicious about dried durian purchased on the market. I decided to compare Warorot durian with the other one bought in MAYA shopping center. You can see the difference, I mean color. Havenโ€™t opened yet but my gut feelings tell me that brownish hue of warorot durian was apparently caused by very respected in Thai society โ€œold ageโ€. Another big plus in favor of MAYA durian โ€“ there is expiration date marker.

I wish you guys better luck than mine!

P.S. Donโ€™t you find it terrifying that some people must spend their work hours (day by day, month by month, year by year)...

A Shopper's Delight at Wororot Market, Chiang Mai!

My visit to Wororot Market in Chiang Mai was an exhilarating experience! Despite it being a weekday morning, the market was bustling with a lively crowd of shoppers and window-shoppers alike. The vibrant atmosphere was simply infectious!

I indulged in a shopping spree, purchasing several kilograms of delectable snacks. From the crunchy delight of pistachios and fried pork skin to the sweet and tangy dried mango slices and spicy peanuts, the variety was overwhelming. The quality and flavors were unparalleled, making each bite a treat to remember.

Not stopping at snacks, I also scored fantastic bargains on clothes. The array of options and the competitive prices were irresistible.

To top it off, I participated in a group-buy with a few friends, and the generous lady-boss offered us a small discount as a token of appreciation for bringing more patrons to her clothing shop.

Wororot Market is a veritable treasure trove for anyone seeking an authentic and rewarding shopping experience in Chiang Mai.

The dynamic environment, coupled with the incredible deals and friendly vendors, makes it a must-visit destination. Highly recommended for all shopaholics and...

One of our absolute favorite shopping areas and markets in Chiang Mai! We go here frequently to shop. It is a huge market with lots of booths and surrounding shops with all sorts of unique items that you can buy at very reasonable prices. It is made up of two huge buildings with indoor markets, and many outdoor shopping stands along the surrounding sidewalks, plus many street shops in about a 2 or 3 block surrounding area. They have the largest fresh seafood market in town here, and the flower market is right next door. We buy lots of sundries, including coffee, tea, fruits and vegetables, dried fruits, snacks and desserts, nuts, spices, and cooking supplies. We also enjoy shopping at the booths that sell unique handmade items, like clothing, bags, jewelry, wood bowls and cutting boards, etc. It is often very busy, but not too crowded to be able to shop without having to fight a crowd. There are also plenty of food stands, if you need a snack. Plan on spending several hours here wandering through the market, then exploring the shops on the surrounding streets. We have always recommended this market to friends visiting Chiang Mai, and we will...
