An Unforgettable Thai Culinary Experience at Zebbe e Lee Cooking School, Chiang Mai

From start to finish, this was hands down one of the most fun and memorable days we had in Chiang Mai. We were promptly picked up at 8:30 AM and whisked away to a local food market — an authentic touch that made selecting fresh vegetables and herbs part of the adventure.

The cooking school itself is a dream. Nestled in stunning surroundings, it offers a peaceful and inspiring setting to cook and connect. We lucked out with a fantastic group of eight, and the energy was upbeat and joyful all day.

Bo, our instructor, was simply amazing. She balanced professionalism with a great sense of humor and created an atmosphere that was both educational and entertaining. Her passion for Thai cuisine is infectious, and she made the entire experience truly special.

What makes this school stand out is the personalized menu — each participant can select their own dishes! I chose:

• Papaya Salad • Pad Thai • Tom Yum Soup • Green Curry • Mango Sticky Rice

And best of all, I could make everything gluten-free — a huge plus for me as a celiac! They had special gluten free sauces.

My daughter’s delicious selections included:

• Fresh Spring Roll • Coconut Soup • Pineapple Fried Rice • Paneng Curry

Every dish we made was bursting with flavor and surprisingly simple to prepare. The class struck the perfect balance between hands-on learning and pure enjoyment.

I wholeheartedly recommend Zebbe e Lee Cooking School to anyone visiting Chiang Mai. Thank you, Bo, for making it such a magical day — we’ll treasure the recipes and...

This was such a wonderful experience! I love going to a cooking class whenever travelling and this one was incredible! We had a private cooking class experience with a seamless hotel pick-up to the market as the first stop. Alice was our guide & chef for our night and she was absolutely exceptional. She explained everything we would be using throughout the market and answered the many questions our group had (we're all in the food service industry in the States). Once we got to the facility, which in itself is breathtaking we got ready to start our cooking. Each person was able to choose their own appetizer, stir fry, soup and curry dish to make, while we all made Mango Sticky Rice. Alice was also incredibly patient and accommodating from some allergies in our group - gluten and rice (I know). In addition to one of our group having a broken elbow. He was still able to do the majority of the cooking with minimall help needed, but when he did, Alice pitched in without hesitation.

The whole experience was so fun with music playing and dancing around the kitchen while cooking, learning and having fun. Then we got to sit and enjoy our dishes, which were delicious!!! 10/10 would recommend!

Loved loved loved Alice as our guide/chef!!! She was really wonderful! She also had a helper in the background (not sure of their name) but they were...

A Must-Do Experience in Chiang Mai!

Attending the Zabb E Lee Thai Cooking School was one of the highlights of our trip! From start to finish, the entire experience was seamless and unforgettable. We were conveniently picked up from our hotel and taken to a vibrant local food market, where our fantastic host, Gan, guided us through the various fresh Thai ingredients we’d be using. Her knowledge and enthusiasm made this part of the experience truly engaging.

The cooking school itself was set in stunning surroundings, providing the perfect atmosphere for learning and cooking. We had the opportunity to prepare five delicious courses, choosing from a great selection of traditional Thai dishes. Gan was an incredible instructor—patient, passionate, and always happy to answer questions. She guided us step by step, making the cooking process both fun and approachable.

If you couldn’t finish everything, you could take your creations home with you!

A huge thank you to Gan and the whole team at Zabb E Lee for making this such a memorable experience. We will absolutely be back next time we're in Chiang Mai! Highly recommended for anyone wanting an authentic and hands-on introduction to...

Fantastic cooking class run by extremely kind, enthusiastic people. We did the evening cooking class as a group of 3 which was led by Rainy - an amazing cook with such a wonderful personality who we could tell really loved teaching us all about authentic Thai cooking. The evening started with a quick tour around the market with Rainy showing and explaining to us all of the ingredients we’d be using to cook with. From that it’s a 30 minute drive to the farm where we were welcomed with cold drinks and a short tour around the school. Cooking was great fun - Rainy really included all of us in the processes of each dish and made sure that all of us knew what we were doing. It’s 5 meals total (4 interchangeable and 1 mango sticky rice) so make sure you are hungry before you begin as there is so much food. Once everything was done, Rainy gave each of us a free cookbook detailing how to make each of the optional meals along with substitutes for ingredients that could be hard to find at home. Overall an amazing experience, tasty food, (would’ve happily paid double) with such a wonderful woman. Thank you Rainy !
