This is a large Buddhist temple located along the Chao Phraya River. The temple features a riverside pier where Buddhist devotees often come to release fish as a merit-making practice. According to Buddhist beliefs, this act is thought to bring great spiritual benefits. Personally, I believe that purchasing fish from a fresh market and releasing them here would be more meaningful than buying them from vendors near the pier, as those fish are often recaptured and resold. However, if you are simply looking to participate in this Buddhist tradition, you can easily find vendors offering live fish near the pier. These vendors will even walk with you to the river, explain the Buddhist way of making a wish, and guide you through the proper method of releasing the fish. It’s an interesting cultural experience, especially for visitors.

วัดเทวราชกุญชร วรวิหาร ตั้งอยู่บริเวณถนนศรีอยุธยา แขวงวชิรพยาบาล เขตดุสิต กรุงเทพมหานคร เป็นพระอารามหลวงชั้นตรี ชนิดวรวิหาร ปัจจุบันมีพระธรรมวชิราภรณ์ (โสภณ โสภณจิตฺโต ป.ธ. 9) เป็นเจ้าอาวาส เปิดให้เข้าชมทุกวัน ประวัติวัดเทวราชกุญชร วรวิหาร วัดโบราณที่สร้างมาตั้งแต่สมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยา เดิมเป็นวัดราษฎร์ ชาวบ้านเรียกว่า “วัดสมอแครง” เล่ากันว่าเพราะมีต้นสมอร่องแร่งมาก บ้างก็สันนิษฐานว่า “สมอ” เพี้ยนมาจากคำว่า “ถมอ” (ถะมอ) เป็นภาษาเขมร แปลว่า “หิน” วัดนี้คงเรียกกันครั้งแรกว่า “ถมอแครง” ซึ่งแปลว่า “หินแกร่ง” สมเด็จพระบวรราชเจ้ามหาสุรสิงหนาท กรมพระราชวังบวรสถานมงคล ในรัชกาลที่ 1 ทรงปฏิสังขรณ์ขึ้นใหม่ ต่อมาสมเด็จพระสัมพันธวงศ์เธอ เจ้าฟ้ากรมหลวงพิทักษ์มนตรี พระโอรสของสมเด็จพระศรีสุดารักษ์ ซึ่งเป็นพระเชษฐภคินีของรัชกาลที่ 1 (ต้นสกุลมนตรีกุล) ทรงบูรณะต่อ โดยมีพระเจ้าบรมวงศ์เธอ พระองค์เจ้ากุญชร กรมพระพิทักษเทเวศร์ ซึ่งเป็นพระราชโอรสในรัชกาลที่ 2 (ต้นราชสกุลกุญชร) ทรงอุปถัมภ์ เมื่อสิ้นพระชนม์แล้ว พระวรวงศ์เธอ พระองค์เจ้าสิงหนาทราชดุรงคฤทธิ์ พระโอรส ทรงอุปถัมภ์ต่อ หลังจากนั้นเจ้านายผู้สืบสกุลกุญชรให้ความอุปถัมภ์โดยลำดับ ครั้นในสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ 4 ทรงสถาปนาเป็นพระอารามหลวง และพระราชทานนามว่า “วัดเทวราชกุญชร” โดยคำว่า “เทวราช” แปลว่า “พระอินทร์” มานำหน้าพระนามของพระองค์เจ้ากุญชร ซึ่งแปลว่า “ช้าง” รวมความแล้วแปลว่า “ช้างพระอินทร์” ปัจจุบันกรมศิลปากรจดทะเบียนเป็นโบราณสถานสำคัญ พระอุโบสถ ถูกสร้างขึ้นใหม่ในสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระนั่งเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ 3 มีรูปทรงคล้ายกับพระอุโบสถวัดพระแก้ว ผนังพระอุโบสถมีภาพจิตรกรรมฝาผนังด้านข้างทั้ง 2 ด้าน เหนือช่องหน้าต่างเขียนภาพเหตุการณ์ตอนเหล่าเทพยดามาชุมนุมกัน ภายในประดิษฐาน “พระพุทธเทวราชปฏิมากร” พระพุทธรูปโลหะหล่อลงรักปิดทอง ปางมารวิชัย ขนาดหน้าตักกว้าง 4.35 เมตร สูงตั้งแต่ทับเกษตรถึงยอดเปลวรัศมี 5.65 เมตร ฝีมือช่างสมัยทวารวดี เป็นองค์ประธาน นิยมถวายผ้าไตรแทนดอกไม้ ธูป เทียน เพราะเชื่อว่าจะสร้างความศักดิ์สิทธิ์ในการกราบขอพรเป็นเท่าทวีคูณ เปิดทุกวัน ตั้งแต่เวลา 08.00-17.00 น. อธิษฐานขอพร

จากนั้นนำธนบัตรจำนวน 2 ใบ ม้วนเข้าด้วยกันแล้วสอดเข้าที่มือองค์เทวราชเนรมิต อธิษฐานตามความปรารถนา (เพียง 1 ข้อ) แล้วเอาหน้าผากแตะที่นิ้วชี้องค์เทวราชเนรมิต จากนั้นนำธนบัตรใบหนึ่งใส่ตู้บริจาค ส่วนอีกใบหนึ่งประทับยันต์องค์เทวราชเนรมิตแล้วนำติดตัวกลับไปเพื่อเป็นสิริมงคล เดินทาง รถยนต์ จากทางด่วนยมราช ตรงเข้าถนนพิษณุโลก เมื่อเข้าสู่ถนนพิษณุโลกสามารถไปได้ 3 เส้นทาง คือ จากถนนพิษณุโลก ให้เลี้ยวขวาที่สี่แยกพาณิชยการ เข้าถนนพระราม 5 ให้เลี้ยวซ้ายที่สี่แยกเข้าสู่ถนนศรีอยุธยา ตรงไปยังวัดเทวราชกุญชร จากถนนพิษณุโลก ให้เลี้ยวขวาที่แยกมิสกวัน เข้าถนนราชดำเนิน ให้เลี้ยวซ้ายเข้าสู่ถนนศรีอยุธยา ตรงไปยังวัดเทวราชกุญชร จากถนนพิษณุโลก ให้เลี้ยวขวาที่แยกวังแดง เข้าถนนราชสีมา ให้เลี้ยวซ้ายเข้าสู่ถนนศรีอยุธยา ตรงไปยังวัดเทวราชกุญชร ทั้งนี้ ภายในวัดมีที่จอดรถให้
