Tuay Tung Ice-cream (Chula 12) — Attraction in Wang Mai Subdistrict

A famous dessert place around here, there were queues and seats for people to wait outside (you also need to get the paper queue which the number will be shown on the monitor outside).

The good: Taiwanese milk tea icecream is good! Not too sweet just perfect. Black sesame soymilk icecream, recommend for people who like less sweet stuff and soymilk. The fried Man Tou bread goes really well with ice cream Food came out fast.

The bad: Caramel pudding, it tastes watered down. It got the right taste but definitely lacks creaminess. The pudding was definitely not made from gelatin but possible agar agar, which gave it a rather firm and brittle texture (not soft melt in your mouth). The texture is closer to เต้าฮวยนมสด. The fried man tou with icecream menu said it comes with candied peanut bar, so I expected pieces of candies peanut bar. But as you can see from the picture, you can barely call it a decoration. I’d rather you don’t mention it at all. Bathroom, have 2 in total, 1 room has only urinal chamber for men, another room has toilet bowl. Basically men has 2 options while women only has one.

Might visit again for fried mantou...

📝: Found out about this ice cream shop and headed over there right away since I was nearby. This was my pre-dinner dessert and I was left satisfied. Luckily we arrived just before the queue got long (there were around 10 tables waiting on queue by the time we finished eating!).

❤️: Tuay Tung Ice Cream specialises in home made ice cream served in Thai-Chinese dish inspired style. The flavours that were most interesting were the 🫚 Ginger Soup (pretty hot too 🥵), 🖤 Black Sesame Soy Milk, and 🌼 Chrysanthemum Tea. But my favourite was the 💜🍠 Baked Sweet Potato flavour which was really nutty...

Chanced upon this quaint little ice cream dessert shop (fully packed) right after our lunch & decided to take a queue number to have a try ... 😋🍧🍦🍮🍹

Waited around 10 minutes & finally got a tiny table (which was soon too small to accommodate our greedy orders )😅

The peanut ice cream pudding set was a nice plating with amazing peanut ice cream 🥜.. love the thick nutty flavor 😋🧡

Next favourite will be the tau huay / grass jelly set with yam cubes. The freshly made tau huay tasted rich & smooth. The mango 🥭 sorbet + soda was also a great choice which tasted refreshing & the mango sorbet light & not too sweet.

The generous bowl of lime jelly 🍋 was a great scoping challenge (so whobby) helped to cool us down in the hot balmy Bkk weather.

Hope to pop by Tuay Tung again next trip to try more of their yummy ice cream & dessert...
