Bualoy Parinya â An Affordable Hidden Gem for Thai Dessert Lovers in Banthat Thong
Nestled along the bustling Banthat Thong Road in Bangkok, Bualoy Parinya offers a heartwarming journey into Thailand's rich dessert heritage. Known for its artful renditions of Bua Loy (āļāļąāļ§āļĨāļāļĒ), this unassuming dessert shop has won the hearts of locals and visitors alike. Its charm lies not just in its presentation but also in the layers of flavor and texture that elevate this traditional dish to something truly special.
The Experience I stumbled upon this quaint shop during my evening wanderings, when most other dessert spots in the area were bustling with diners. Bualoy Parinya, surprisingly quiet at the time, seemed like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Despite initial skepticism, I decided to give it a tryâand it was a decision I wonât soon forget.
The staff was welcoming and eager to recommend their signature offering: â5 pcs. of Mixed Fillings Lava Glutinous Rice Balls in Fresh Milkâ (āļāļąāļ§āļĨāļāļĒāļĨāļēāļ§āļēāļĢāļ§āļĄ 5 āļĢāļŠāļāļĄāļŠāļ). Priced at just 55 baht, this bowl featured five perfectly crafted glutinous rice balls with the following fillings: taro, custard, lava taro, charcoal matcha, and chocolate banana. For those with a heartier appetite, the 7-ball option (79 baht) includes butterfly pea and black sesame, while the ultimate 11-flavor extravaganza (109 baht) adds red beans, melon, caramel, and blueberry to the mix.
Considering the quality and creativity of the fillings, itâs a bargain thatâs hard to beat in Bangkokâs dessert scene. Each bowl offers a playful combination of traditional Thai flavors with modern twists, ensuring thereâs something for everyone.
The Dish The highlight of the meal, undoubtedly, was the milk. Warm, creamy, and delicately sweet, it acted as the perfect canvas for the rice balls. The milkâs subtle balance allowed the individual fillings of each rice ball to shine through. From the earthy sweetness of taro to the indulgent richness of chocolate banana, every bite was a joyful discovery.
Even though I arrived full from dinner, I found myself savoring every last spoonful. Each rice ball offered a unique textureâsoft, chewy, and bursting with flavor upon the first bite. At this price, itâs rare to find a dessert that balances affordability with such high-quality ingredients and execution.
For those who prefer a cooler option, Bualoy Parinya also serves their rice balls with coconut ice cream, complemented by an array of toppings such as longan, sweet potato, grass jelly, red beans, and more.
The Ambiance and Reception The shopâs unpretentious setting reflects its focus on the dessert itself. Its simple ambiance ensures that customers pay for the experience and taste, rather than unnecessary frillsâkeeping prices accessible to all. Despite its humble appearance, the shop enjoys an impressive online reputation: over 500 Foodpanda ratings with 5 stars and 736 reviews on Google Maps averaging 4.1 stars.
Final Thoughts Bualoy Parinya is a testament to the beauty of Thai dessertsâsimple, comforting, and deeply satisfying. Whether youâre a local craving a taste of nostalgia or a visitor looking to experience authentic Thai flavors, this shop delivers an unforgettable experience. For first-timers, the 5-piece bowl is a perfect introduction, but I canât wait to return for the 11-flavor option to discover my personal favorites.

The banana chocolate & melon are not the best one but really blown my mind, You should have a try, the taste is artificial but fun! However, I would recommend to get them with hot milk instead of cold, cus the fillings of the dumplings all become soild but not lavaâĶ a little disappointment on this

Read moreI had never tried bualoy but this cafÃĐ is famous for having big bualoy filled with different tastes. My first choice went to a mix of 9 bualoy with cold milk even if it is recommended to have it hot. So they mix ice with cow milk and sugar (maybe condensed milk) and bualoys. I have to admit that it was surprisingly good. Especially the cantaloupe and the black sÃĐsame. Always cool to try new stuff. I was less convinced by the other dessert we took : taotung. It is ice with longan juice and a lot of toppings like gingko or millet grains. Nothing crazy but apparently...
