The name of this place is ironic, since around 50% of the regular exhibits are broken or don't have all their parts - you can't "do" much. The Dogs Exhibit, opened a mere 3 weeks ago, was at least 60%+ broken, non-functioning, missing pieces, filthy, or you can't hear anything to do the activities because it is so noisy and the volume isn't high enough. The design and content of the Dogs traveling exhibit (nothing to do with the Doseum) was excellent, and that's the best thing I can say about the entire place. We came mainly to see "Dogs" and left extremely let down and irritated that it cost $36 for an adult and kid to go from broken station to broken station. Surely everything was working when it opened...or was it? Another review says a large portion of the Dogs exhibit wasn't functioning when they came to see it a mere 10 days after opening. When we saw/did/read what we could at Dogs, we went to some of the permanent exhibits, which were also in terrible condition, dirty, missing pieces, couldn't be heard, or are broken. At a minimum you could put up signs that say "sorry! not working!" on all the broken stuff so people don't waste their time. We are locals, so we're let down and know to never spend SO MUCH MONEY at this place again, but I feel extremely bad (and embarrassed) for the city of San Antonio that so many tourists will come here and be equally let down. And then there are people for whom $18/person is a lot of money. They deserve to get what they're paying for. It's borderline fraudulent. There is literally no excuse to have this much of the museum non-functional - and this has been going on for many years based on reviews found both here and across the web. Additionally, the people at the front desk were not friendly in the least - isn't this San Antonio? Locals are genuinely friendly here. Although if I worked at somewhere that rundown and depressing, where I knew I was ripping families off, I probably wouldn't be very friendly either. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Go to Confluence Park (for free), The Witte Museum, Brackenridge Park, old school lane bowling, etc. They're so much more fun and those places care about their guests' experience and do their best to present an attraction that is worthy of their money.
