Where do I start?? I had a hard time finding a company I was comfortable with because being in the states, and never visiting Turks, I had no idea where to begin. I posted in a locals Facebook page and Gracebay Adventures came as a recommendation. I sent an email and within 20 minutes I received a response from Lisa. We exchanged emails back and forth as she patiently answered my million questions. She was kind, patient and never once did I feel as though I was bothering her. I decided to book their full day (7 hour) excursion for my family of 5 (myself, my husband and my three sons ages 18, 18 and 16). The excursion included a grilled lunch on an island (yum). So the day arrives and I'm still a bit nervous to see what is actually going to pull up and pick us up 🤣. The boat arrives right on the shore directly in front of our Villa (Villa Renaissance)! Yes! Curbside service 😉. We were warmly welcomed by "Captain Jack" and Devon and welcomed aboard. We introduced ourselves and were offered a beer, rum punch, pop or water. Off we went... First stop snorkeling. To my surprise, both our captains jumped right in and joined us in snorkeling. They pointed out and identified everything we saw to our boys so they didn't miss a thing. We saw a seahorse, grouper, turtles, etc... Next stop, the shipwreck. We were told the history of the shipwreck and all three of my boys climbed up the ship.and made the jump! ❤. On we went to Iguana Island (my favorite). Devon jumped right off the boat with us an explained the island and how it came to be. We then explored for a while walking to the other side, viewing the sights and taking in the beauty of the water. We then went back to the boat and cruised for a while while seeing flamingos, pelicans and dolphins. Our next stop was lunch! We pulled over to a sandbar and while we relaxed, Captain Jack and Devon grilled us BBQ ribs, BBQ chicken, rolls, baked potatoes and mac and cheese. It was soooo good, we ate everything! With our bellies full, we headed back out to the 3rd largest barrier reef in world to snorkel. We saw sharks and so much beautiful ocean life. We continued our journey collecting conch shells and sand dollars and tubing. During the duration of the day we were always being offered drinks, snacks and fruit. My boys were able to Bluetooth to the boat and play "their" music. We felt as though "Captain Jack" and Devon truly appreciated spending the day with us. They were involved, friendly, funny and easy to talk to. I did see many other companies where the captains were sitting in the boat while their customers snorkled. I truly appreciated our hosts joining us and teaching us about their "home". After the 7 hours, our day ended and we were dropped off right at our Villa. It was the best money I had spent to give my boys some great memories and breathtaking views. The next morning I emailed Lisa and asked her if the next day was available. Yes!!!!! We went again and this time did a half day. To make it even better, "Captain Jack" and Devon once again joined us ❤. We went back to our favorite stops and saw some new ones. Again we were offered drinks, snacks, fruit and sandwiches. Please do yourself a favor and enjoy an excursion when visiting this beautiful place and please consider Gracebay Adventures. We were extremely happy...
Read moreI never write reviews but the behavior I witnessed from Grace Bay Adventures tour guides at Princess Alexandra National Park has prompted me to write this. To begin, I was not part of a Grace Bay Adventures tour I was just a bystander at the reef. I was snorkeling at one of the reefs that are buoyed off for conservation when a Grace Bay Adventures group arrived by boat. The group began snorkeling and was being led by a guide in the water with them. This is when I witnessed the truly disturbing and sad behavior of this tour guide. Multiple times I witnessed the guide standing directly on the reef. This is poor snorkeling etiquette and against the rules of the national park which are clearly stated on various signs throughout the beach. After seeing the guide crushing the coral reef by standing on top of it, more disturbing behavior followed. The guide dove down into the water, stuck his hand inside a little rock cave, shook them around and out came the terrified fish who were resting in the rock. He proceeded to do this another couple times. It seems that he was purposefully disturbing the fish to get them out of their hiding spots for the entertainment of the tour group. This is also against the rules of the park as they clearly say to not touch any part of the reef. This behavior went on and eventually the tour group left. I was left shocked by what I witnessed. How could a tour guide be so blatantly disrespectful to this fragile ecosystem, the one that supports his very own livelihood? How can one expect tourists to respect the reef when this is the example being set by a tour guide? From the behavior I witnessed of this tour guide I can say I will never give my business to Grace Bay Adventures and I suggest that anyone reading this should not either. They should follow the national park rules like everyone else and have more respect for the fragile reef ecosystem. Truly disappointed by what I witnessed, do better Grace...
Read moreWe did the full day private charter and I can’t say enough how incredible the experience was. Captain Jack and Ross truly made my birthday the best birthday ever. They went out of their way to make my day special and made sure to do everything I had requested.
I first spoke with Lisa and on the day of my birthday she called me and told me Captain Jack suggested the next day because the water would be more calm and the sun would be fully out. She even threw in extras for me and gave me a break on the full price for suggesting the next day and we took their advice and so happy we did! Lisa is awesome.
I can’t thank Captain Jack and Ross enough. We went snorkeling and Ross and Jack were pointing out the turtles, sting rays and all types of fish at the reef. From there we went sight seeing at this crazy canal where Drake shot one of his videos surrounded by multi million dollar homes which was breathtaking. Then we went to the shipwreck where I jumped TWICE. We went to a sand bar which was gorgeous, Iguana Island which was really cool, swam with a dolphin, went to the floating tiki bar which was awesome and literally Captain Jack and Ross were damn near celebrities and they grilled up some seriously delicious eats for us at a private island. The lobster kebabs were out of this world. They truly made an experience for me I’ll never forget and I could see myself being friends with them. It felt like I was hanging with my friends from home. They joked around with me the whole time and made my girl and mother as comfortable and respectful as possible. I’m going to miss them most out of my entire vacation. Thank you so much guys. You made my 40th incredibly memorable. When I go back to TCI I will make it my business to do this again and beg them to have it be with Captain...
