See other posts, especially mespink02. Basic less expensive place to stay close to the western edge of the Grace Bay beach. Does not have the facilities or crowds of the central Grace Bay resorts. There is only one small snorkeling location near the other Grace Bay resorts, but the larger and uncrowded Smith reef is just an 8 minute walk away from here. There are more than 2 restaurants close by. I have not yet seen a fast food or chain restaurant, and I have been to a lot of different areas. Scuba provider close by, but I haven't used them yet, so can't recommend. Special treat Thursday evening fish fry at Bight Park, 15 minute walk on the beach (much closer to here than from central Grace Bay). Local restaurants sell food and ice cream, local crafts for sale, free music for dancing, performance of local Jackeroo? tradition- drums, costumes, and dancing. Cab costs $20 to airport- fare airport to Grace Bay resort may be more. Rental car at Scooter Bobs about $60 per day without optional insurance. Can see the entire island in one day by car. IGA grocery about 30 minute walk or short drive away. Food and services are expensive. A street person down town asked if I had a spare $10. One day car rental, see island and pick up groceries for a week. When I returned rental car they offered to drop me off at the airport. Driving on the left hurts my brain, and I keep turning on the wipers instead of the turn signal. English is official language, and US dollar is official currency. Very hard to bring pets into the country or find a place to stay with one. Very little rain, so few...
Read moreMy husband and I booked 2 weeks here. I can only talk about the condo we stayed in and the gym. This is not a review of any other condo at this resort. In my opinion this condo is not worth staying in. The air conditioning only worked in the bedroom and although we personally told the owner , 6 days later we were still waiting for it to be fixed. The fridge door was being held together by an elastic band which we had to hook to the side in order for the door to stay closed. 2 chairs from the balcony had been bought inside to make up the living room furniture and the sofa bed was falling apart and all the furniture was very uncomfortable. Several windows didn’t open and we had been left a list of these and the bathroom window was taped down. There was a mismatch of odd plates and glasses. If there is 4 of you then you will have to make do. In my opinion not somewhere you would choose to spend 2 weeks relaxing. The gym equipment was mostly broken or incredibly rusty and the whole room smelt of damp, not good to be breathing in whilst in a gym!!! We choose to leave the condo and seek other accommodation. It was a very bad...
Read moreLike the website says, this hotel is for people who go on vacation and spend more time outside of their room. I was a little hesitant because i was expecting our room to look like a war zone, but overall i was extremely impressed for $99 a night. They give you the best available room when you check in which is nice too. The location is great! 1-2 blocks from 5 different great restaurants and a coffee shop. Literally next door to a car and scooter rental place. and about 6 or 7 blocks from the water. If you do stay here, i would recommend a car/bike/ scooter, because "downtown is too far to walk.
The rooms were comfortable, no bugs, mini fridge, tv and a safe. The pool is nice to look at, but the whole "fresh water pool" thing kinda weirds me out. the hotel is also "on the water" which is a stretch because it backs up to a marina. But the views are still really nice.
Overall, The Staff was friendly, rooms were cheap and clean, and the location was safe and great.
One more thing, There is a restaurant on site, It is very expensive... not quite sure why they put an expensive restaurant next to a bargain hotel... but oh well,...
