Island Escapes Turks & Caicos — Local services in Providenciales

We booked with Island Escapes 3 different times for the same home in Turks and Caicos in the last few years. This year we put the required 50% down, signed and received a rental contract on the same home for our requested dates. The deposit was made in March of this year for a stay during January of 2024. The signed contract does not have a provision for cancellation by Island Escapes for anything other than a “hurricane or something similar”. Last week (June of 2023) they informed us that they lost their rental contract on this home and will be refunding our deposit. HOW CAN A RENTAL COMPANY RENT A HOME THAT THEY DON’T HAVE A RENTAL CONTRACT FOR THE PERIOD THAT THEY ARE RENTING? Beware of renting from this company! My daughter and group of friends came down for their first trip and stayed at the condos and had the best time. They were greeted with wonderful service by staff and the owner Debbie was so lovely to communicate with who helped buy a birthday cake for my daughter and I paid via email. The group said the place was beautiful and clean and best stay for their first trip!
