Kettle's Yard in Cambridge is much more than just a residence; it is a haven of artistic beauty. The moment you step through its doors, you are captivated by the enchanting atmosphere it exudes. The perfect harmony between elegant architecture and artistic creativity is simply breathtaking. During my visit, I was mesmerized by the diversity of carefully selected artworks that create an unforgettable visual experience. The natural light flooding every corner of the house accentuates the beauty of the pieces on display. What sets Kettle's Yard apart is its ability to establish a unique connection between art and everyday life. The artworks seem to seamlessly integrate into the house, creating an unparalleled closeness between the viewer and the art. In summary, Kettle's Yard in Cambridge is an extraordinary place where art reigns supreme. My visit was an incredibly enriching experience, and I cannot recommend it enough to art enthusiasts. It is a cultural treasure that truly deserves to be explored.

A lovely space but I'd have preferred to have been able to wander around by myself rather than be shepherded on a tour. I didn't know any of the artists or the Jim guy who seemed so very important so I felt a bit awkward having to stand and listen to the awe-inspired speeches of the staff and fellow tour members. On the other hand, even without all the fancy art it's a beautiful space. And on a bright, September afternoon with the light pouring through the windows, the whole space was just radiant. I wish I could have had more time to just absorb and admire the parts that I liked rather than be hurried into another room to look at paintings that didn't really resonate with me. I can understand the need for rules and regulations especially since I used to work in art gallery myself, but the ones here - no bags, can't carry coats/jackets, strict timing, etc - were slightly off-putting. Still worth a visit though, if you have a free afternoon. Come on a sunny day!

Kettles Yard is a really different gallery. Based on the house and collection of the old owner, it is preserved much as he left it. You will be escorted round the building by very knowledgeable staff who are passionate about the collection. The main permanent display is predominantly early to mid 20th century items including sculpture, paintings and found objects. This is not just a collection of objects, it is an aesthetic whole. The building the furniture and the art all joined into one fascinating experience. There is a new section which hosts exhibitions. The cafe serves excellent coffee and cake with a limited range of food for lunch at reasonable prices.

Sitting in one of the many chairs in the house at Kettle's Yard is one of the most relaxing experiences I've had. Pared back decor and careful placement of furniture and decorations allow the art to speak for itself, and the groups going through the house are kept small to allow you ample time to admire everything. All the attendants were lovely, and quite knowledgeable about all the works; the artists, materials, etc, which I found helpful as none of the artworks are labelled. The attached gallery had a bold exhibition by artist Oscar Murillo at the time I visited, the most powerful work of which was located in the little church. I can't wait to visit again.
