Choosing Newnham for our wedding venue was natural to us as we have always lived around the Cambridge area, and wondered what was behind the big gates and archway at the end of the Newnham Walk. It was quite literally discovering a truly secret garden, with a mixture of formal and rambling natural garden designs, and so many unique varieties of flowers. After getting engaged, and when we realised how amazing Clough Hall is with its lovely light big windows and decorative ceiling, it felt like a no-brainer to have our wedding there. The conference manager Mel is a lovely person to work with – she is communicative, organised and honest, and was so understanding throughout our prolonged planning period (due to lockdown restrictions). She really helped us to have the individual and creative wedding we had dreamed of, with lots of personal touches – no question was ever too much for her to follow up with the rest of the college team. The catering team are professional and we had a lot of positive feedback from our guests on how impressed they were with the team and with the delicious food they provided! Ash was especially helpful and calm throughout our wedding day, and always seemed to have everything under control. If you would like a beautiful and unique venue, Newnham is definitely the place – amazing hall and gardens, brilliant catering team, and much more worth its value than the other venues we looked around – all of our guests loved it.

Recently visited for the 150 year anniversary ❤. I was an undergraduate here from 1987 - 1990. There have been so many developments since then and it is more stunning than ever. From the sumptuous gardens to the new cafe you are really in for a treat as a visitor or a student. The college is obviously very important in the history of women's education. The new Iris cafe and bar is a very welcome addition with the new block and the fantastically well thought through new accommodation block with the lavender roof terrace and the gym for students. Just fantastic. Book your weddings and parties here. You are also stay here during the summer and book this online. Details on the website and even available through booking.com Many happy returns Newnham and here's to many more years of celebration and study to come.

From little acorns... What a step into wonderland with this beautiful college which grew from a hostel housing five students to a formidable handsome building amongst 18 acres of land. Yates Thompson library is one of the largest of the college libraries in Cambridge. MP Diane Abbott, Dme Mary Beard, primatologist Jane Goodall and chemist Rosalind Franklin all studied here. The map screenshot shows colleges within easy reach if you are on a tour.

Finally came back to Cambridge 8 years after leaving Cambridge. Had a wonderful time visiting Newnham today. Super gorgeous garden. Wonderful porters.

Here are the admissions policies of all colleges we visited (or attempted to visit) between July 28 and August 3:

Open to any alumni, regardless of college Trinity (only open to any alumni, likely due to construction work) St. Catherine’s (only open to any alumni) Magdalene (only open to any alumni)

Only open to their own alumni Peterhouse (only open to their own alumni; exceptions may be made for other alumni) Christ (only open to their own alumni, likely due to construction work and wedding on one day) Sidney Sussex (only open to their own alumni – could not visit) Gonville & Caius (only open to their own alumni – could not visit) Trinity Hall (only open to their own alumni – could not visit) Clare (only open to their own alumni, likely due to construction work -...
